Hey folks, if there are any of you on the confirmed list that cannot attend, please let me know so that I can add someone from the waiting list. It would be a bummer if someone bails and no one can take the spot. Oh and let's hope for good weather for that Sat.

Ken,

I was re-reading your post.

Regarding: Fire

Here is what I found at the park website:

Fires

Fires are allowed on beaches but are subject to restrictions. A permit is required and is available at the visitor centers or from field rangers. Permits are issued free of charge on a same day basis (the same-day you plan to have a fire). During periods of high fire danger, all open fires may be prohibited. Check with a visitor center for fire closures on the day you obtain your permit. For more information about fire regulations, visit our Beach Fires page or call the Bear Valley Visitor Center at 415-464-5100 x2 x5.

I would be willing to carry something for a fire…..duraflame log or charcoal.

I would encourage others to bring something or help carry.

Last year, it was a little windy and cool….having fire or hot coals would be a welcome luxury that will make great get together even better.

If we all bring some charcoal and or a duraflame log as Tony suggested it will be real nice to have some warmth at the camps. Firewood is soooo scarce on the beach that it really is not worth it. I second Tony's suggestions!

Please confirm for Friday also. The few that are coming that night. Thanks. Getting excited!!!!!!!

agree with what Ken is saying.

As for the firewood issue. If alot of us buy a small bag of charcoal then we can divy it up and should have enough fire warmth for the night.

Also, I am planning a SEKI/Kings trip this summer going over Colby pass or Milly's. Starting at Roads End and making a loop. If anyone is interested talk to me at the gathering

Jesse, if you are just doing the one night then it is Jan. 23rd Sat. and we will be meeting at 9am. Ken is going in on Friday and making a two day trip with a few others that will be attending. I am not sure if you are doing two days or just the one where most of us are attending.

The plan is to hike in and out from the Bear Valley trailhead? No shuttling. Isn't it? Saturdays crowd starting at 9 am.

I thought we where starting at the palomarin trail head, and doing an out and back… im sure ken will clarify…

it's easier to do it from Bear Valley. Palomarin requires a shuttle so Bear Valley

Why does it require shuttleing from Palomarin and not Bear Valley? If we are just doing an out and back, I'm confused. Is there no parking at the trail head if you start at Palomarin? looks like I will be leaving at about 3:00 a.m. on Sat. to make it by 9:oo a.m. can't get Fri. off UGHHH!!!

Jack, Bear Valley has the visitors center, trail maps. etc.. We (Ken and I) have to pick up our permits there. Easier access for most to I believe. Plus if anyone is interested it's a better part of an hour roundtrip from Palomarin to Bear Valley.

Ken do we all need to start with you guys at Bear Valley since you have the permits or can we start at Palomarin? Coming from Bakersfield it looks closer to drive to palomarin and hike in as long as we can leave are cars parked at the trail head. Thanks Jack

Bakersfield to Bolinas 315mi, 5:33 hours Palomarin Trailhead

Bakersfield to Olema 311mi, 5:27 hours Bear Valley Trailhead

1 is a lot slower than 101 and Sir Francis Drake.

Hope that helps. Drive safe. See you in a few weeks.
