Beautiful! Thanks Chris. Plenty of room to spread out.

And I believe that there are two fire rings- one for each site.
I will be bringing 2 boxes of duraflame logs, which hopefully will be on the supply vehicle that we are allowed to drive into the site.
If not, volunteers would be needed to bring in the logs.
I have not received my Sherpa certification yet, so I am limited to carrying 87 lbs- which seems to be the weight of my 9 yr old daughter. :)

I'm not sure if this was already addressed, but should be be carrying all the water we need for the whole weekend, or is the support vehicles going to be bringing in jugs of water for everyone to use??
Water will be trucked in. Be prepared to haul in your own if weather is bad. They won't let us drive in if too muddy.
We will have over 80 gallons on hand.
Well, it looks like I will not be able to make it.
I'm completely bummed out as I had cleared my schedule for this, but something has come up and my wife and I have to leave town on the 18th. I'm hoping to at least swing by on Friday and say hi to whoever is there, but I think chances are slim.
Jacob,
NOOOO!
Sorry to hear about this….I hope that everything is okay with your family and you.
And to think, I had to bail on your trip to Point Reyes this weekend to go into work. :(
I was really looking forward to seeing your camera and to maybe have you give a talk on photography.
-Tony
Hey Tony.
Everything's alright, thanks.
We've been looking at the possibility of relocating to Durango, CO. There's a prospective employment opportunity for my wife which has been an ongoing process. They want to fly both of us out to have a look around the town, talk with us about relocation, and presumably present her the official job offer. This was supposed to be happening early Feb but of course the date was moved.
Sorry you had to bail on the Pt. Reyes outing. Adam came along and we had a good time. I was just telling him that if this Durango thing pans out I'm going to really miss hiking in the Bay Area, and of course all of the BPL'ers that are up and down this part of CA. I had no idea I'd be missing this one until just today.
Eric and Kat both have the NEX, I'm guessing there may be others there that do too, so you'll get to check it out I'm sure :)
@Tony et al,
I'm still planning on attending and bringing some of my camera gear, NEX5 and a few lenses. My glass selection is more limited compared to Jacob's rangefinder lenses but it gets the job done.
You're just scared of losing to the Micro Burst. You will be missed. I hope you and your wife get what makes the both of you happy.
Jacob,
Wishing you the best of luck on the that trip out to CO.
Guess this means we need to hook up and get a trip done before you you head out.
Plus, you can always come back to visit us for the next GGG?
Eric,
Thanks for letting me know….I have held the NEX5 at the store and fired off a few shots, but would be nice to see how you use it in the field and to get your thoughts on it.
As I have told Jacob, I am pretty slow and would be looking to buy the 3rd generation model of the NEX5, if released winter of 2012.
Still, nice to drool over new camera….just wondering how I will like it vs. my pocket camera. Will I take fewer photos with the NEX5?
-Tony
"You're just scared of losing to the Micro Burst."
Haha… had to think about that one for a minute. I dunno man, the Instaflator is pretty intimidating when it expands to full size, it might crush your morale before the race even gets started :)
Anyway, nothing is set in stone re: Durango (other than us being there on the 18th). There are a lot of things to consider still.
Anyone have one that they are bringing?
Anyone have anything in particular that they want to see/try?
I would like to see a MLD Duomid.
Frank I will have one on olive silnylon there. You will probably see all variants.
I'd love to see a TT Double Rainbow…still have never seen one in person.
Fastest inflatable pad. At least torso length.
I have a large Neo Air now. It seems to takes days to inflate at the end of the day.
Ken I will also show up on Friday night.
Jerry
With the demise if the Wiki here at BPL I have created this one post that will contain all the most up to date information on the annual event in one place. I will bump and update this one post as needed.
Reservations have been made at Henry Coe for the upcoming GGG in February 2012.
Please help defer costs of the GGG reservations and incidentals Paypal of funds would be greatly appreciated.
Paypal to kenthompson2@mac.com
Please let me know if you are coming. And let me know if you are in for Friday night as well.
Remember that the Westbound lane of the Oakland Bay Bridge will be closed Friday through Tuesday
Bring a chair
The official word is as follows…
The 4th Annual BPL GGG will be held at Henry Coe State Park February 17-19 2012
Information about the park can be found here. http://www.coepark.org/
Backcountry Group sites at Manzanita Point #9 and 10
These are the same spots we had in January 2011.
Here is a link
And the year before
And the first one
We will(weather permitting) have vehicle support to haul in wood and water
There's a few items I'd like to see….MLD Exodus and/or Prophet, any HMG pack and a Solo Trailstar. Actually, even though I recently purchased a regular Trailstar I have not seen it set up yet since I live in an apartment and don't have a yard. So, if nobody else is bringing one I might bring it so I can show it to myself and practice pitching it.
"I'd love to see a TT Double Rainbow…still have never seen one in person."
I will be bringing a TT Double Rainbow.
Chris. That is sad. Bring your Trailstar. It's going to be like a dog park for gear. Shelters and UL crap everywhere!
@ Chris S.
I am not only brining an MLD Prophet.. it's an MLD Super Prophet!
(Super version has Double bottom and solid dyneema pockets)
If you want I can bring my MLD Exodus that has two thru hikes worth of miles on it too.
The Exodus was mauled by a packrat in Glacier (no Joke) but it's still excellant.. if a bit stinky at this point!
I'd love to see a Trailstar. Thinking about buying one soooooon!
@Chris +1 on the Trailstar, I'm also on the fence about buying one. Bring that bad boy!
Any requests on whether we should bring our Duomid with the "Trailstar" add-on (formerly Doug Ide's), or our Lightheart Duo?
Debbie I would like to see the Trailstar conversion panel!
