Can't wait. I am thankful for a short hike in and plan on a couple comfy 12 hour sleep nights:) This could be the most physically beat that I have been in years.
I am also looking forward to spending time with a fun group of people.
As far as carpooling, I will be leaving Santa Cruz after work at 2:30 on Friday, if anyone would like a ride. I plan on heading back on Sunday, midday perhaps?
Ken and all.
I'm currently in the midst of an unexpected, and very serious, family emergency. There is a possibility that I won't be able to join all of you there. Ken, I know this is the last day I'll be able to communicate with you, so I want to give you a heads-up. If I don't make it to the GGG, I also want to take this opportunity to say a public thanks for all of the effort you've put into making this event happen.
I'm hopeful that things will stabilize to the point that I will be able to show up for all (or even part) of the event. If not, have a BLAST!
Ken,
What is the plan for having things brought in via the 2 support vehicles?
I have two Costco Sized boxes of Duraflame logs that I am contributing.
I will be coming in on Friday afternoon, so it is possible that you might already be at the campsite.
Will there be a particular time that people who have things to contribute like water or firewood should meet the support vehicles?

Park staff have been wonderful. We can drive in anytime between noon and dusk. We'll work out the logistics. I plan on hiking back out to hike back in with some of you.
@Diana, Fingers crossed!
Something came up and I won't make it. So looking to meet all of you.
@Ken,
Jack — will not be carpooling with us as he has plans for a longer hike after the event. My car is now +2, my wife and a traditional backpacker will be joining us. Are there any restrictions on when we arrive Friday night at the overflow lot? It will likely be around 7 or 8, we plan to hike in after dark.
No restrictions. If the gate looks locked, it most likely is not. I was instructed just to lift off the chain, and let ourselves in.
Packing the van. I'm leaving after lunch. It is finally here! I will be out of touch for awhile as I penetrate the Redwood Curtain.
Contact Ken H. with any last minute fires.
See you all there!

I will be arriving at the park HQ Friday around 4pm-ish
If there are any last minute questions please feel free to contact me.
I will be monitoring this thread up to around 4pm.
Thanks
Let's all make sure we all give Ken T. huge pat on the back, and a big thank you when you see him this weekend
Keeping this at the top

Ken,
Is there a time Saturday morning that we should meet a vehicle if we have something we want hauled in? I was thinking about bringing a number of stoves to have on display. I’d have them in a plastic storage bin. And maybe a mid-sized ice chest with a few things in it for a wood-fire cooking demo if there’s room.
P.S. If there’s a particular stove anyone is dying to see, let me know and I’ll see if I have one (and if it will fit in the box). :)
Hi, from what the website says, once a support vehicle gets to the campsite they cannot go back and forth to the trailhead. My suggestion would be to bring a few of your prized stoves and then wait until Sunday at the swap meet in the parking lot to show off your stoves
Well today is the official start to the annual GGG Weekend!
What started out as 13-15 individuals has blossomed into nearly 100 participants. We have hikers flying in and traveling by car far and wide to attend. Please take a moment and thank Ken for all of his hard work on coordinating this event for 2012.
I should be at the trailhead solo around 4 today if anyone needs or wants a hiking partner.
Also there are a few LOUD snorers here this weekend. Jack Elliot and myself. Be forewarned
Have a good one 'all.
I'm down that I had to cancel, but there is always next time. I'll raise a mini bottle of Jack to you guys while I'm cruising at 30k…
You confused me now. You are hiking in this afternoon? I thought it was like last year, car camping on Friday night??
Kat,
People are hiking in today and tonight in the dark.
Rick
I must have missed that among the hundreds of posts. Thought it was like last year. Wow!
You would've been very lonely and puzzled in the headquarters campground…

Just lonely. She's always a bit puzzled….. ;-)

I just have to repack…I just have a carfull all kinds of gear, thought I would choose tomorrow morning.
OK, first batch of brownies just went in the oven…
Update: joined by batch #2. Not sure if I have room in my cardboard box for 3 batches, we'll see.
I will be at headquarters about noon today.
When is the support truck going to get there.
I want to bring extra water
