DAMMIT.

I needed to get away from BPL ’cause it just made me want gear, even though I really LIKE my gear and don’t NEED any more.

And the ONE TIME I log on to answer a PM….i start looking around………..

SHITE.

No need trying to fight it Jen, Gear addiction is like being held by the clutches of heroin.

Besides, everybody here misses you.

Yeah Jen, don’t be a stranger here. Besides you can control your gear habit.

My motto is: “I can quit buying backpacking gear anytime I want. I’ve done it hundreds of times.”

Also came back to peruse BPL Forums Jen, and hit on this thread. All of a sudden a few days later I realised that I tasted smack and my gear addiction has begun again. Hmmm.

19 1/2 ounces including stakes, guylines, and stuffsack

Wow, that’s a pretty tent! The Notch is such a good LW design, especially for trekking pole users. Great competition for other integrated solo shelters like the Zpacks Plex series, but more flexible in that the tarp can be used sans the inner. That inner likely weighs between 7 and 9 ounces, so the tarp with lines and stakes may be in the 12 – 14 oz range. Can’t wait to see what the price will be.

  At Last!

Now I’m glad I didn’t bet on it being a freestanding tent. I hate being wrong, but getting to actually see the tent alleviates any ego bruising.

Sad that it’s not a 2-person shelter.

Happy that I don’t have to think about emptying my gear savings account, because it’s not a 2-person shelter!

If the Lithium Notch sells well, then next in line to be lithiumed would likely be one of their top-selling 2-person shelters.

Mmmmm…tasty.

Stratospire 2 would be my guess for the next one

I’m guessing a price tag in the $600-ish range. Maybe $650.

You guys are quick. First time I have seen that video clip.

how do you like the new from the air videos ?

I never knew I could feel emotions like this for a tent. Looks awesome! I don’t think it will get me to part with my Duomid, but I do have to keep telling myself I don’t need another tent…

I don’t need another tent. I don’t need another tent. I don’t need another tent.

You guys had better not make a cuben slimmed down ProTrail that’s 17oz or less. Don’t. You. Dare.

Having yet to see a shelter that would lure me away from my beloved Duplex, I’ve been thinking about what TT could offer that might cause me to reconsider my allegience…

A Stratospire 1.5 Lithium would likely get my attention.

So how does the interior space in the notch compare to the bowfin 1?

but more flexible in that the tarp can be used sans the inner

And the inner can be used sans the tarp!

Does anyone else offer a true double walled tent under 20 oz? I think this may be the only double walled tent in this weight category

A tramplite with mesh inner is ~21oz and that’s not including stakes…Does six moon designs ever do cuden deschutes+serenity that come out under 20 oz?

“19.5 oz including stakes”

zpacks plex tents don’t include stakes in their weights, the notch Li could be lighter than the altaplex, and the Li is double walled!

Does six moon designs ever do cuden deschutes

Unless things have changed recently, the SMD Serenity net tent only comes with 30d silnylon (floor) and standard netting, so it’s 11 ounces. With lighter materials like 1 ounce DCF (floor) and 0.5 oz nano-see-um netting, that weight could easily be dropped down to 7 ounces, maybe 8 with the double doors. I just finished making a MYOG net tent out of 0.9 oz Silpoly PU4000 (floor), 0.66 oz Membrane taffeta (partial solid front, back and full-solid side walls) and 0.5oz nano-see-um netting (upper front and upper back panels only) at 7.5 ounces – it would be even lighter for full netting and DCF floor).

the notch Li could be lighter than the altaplex, and the Li is double walled!

Definitely. And adding a partial solid inner (which is an option with the Notch) could only add an ounce if light enough materials were used as above. Also, the standard stakes sold by TarpTent are Easton aluminum, so you could probably drop upward of an ounce with four lighter stakes instead.

I’m big on partial solid inner walls. They’re great for blocking wind and splash and still allow lots of ventilation–which this design maximizes anyway.
