If anyone has a pico projector they feel like bringing along I could show some wildlife footage either Friday or Saturday evening.
I have a projector, but it is for the old style Apple plug. Pre Lightning.
David,
I’d like to attend. Where do I sign up?
Denis Hazlewood
There must be adaptors Ken…
I will look into that.
PM for David’s PayPal address
nm. Ken answered already.
David you rock for organizing again. Sadly Andrea and I will miss this one by several thousand miles but we’ll be thinking of you, Ken T, DK, Katharina, Jay W, Marc, Doug and everyone and looking forward to the pics. Please take lots of pics and video! Craig W and Nick G, have wanted to meet you for a long time, hopefully another time soon.
Have a PCT and Camino hiker geologist friend who just moved back to the Bay Area who is interested in meeting other lightweight hikers – I’ll send him the link and introduce him if he can make it.
If you’re new to the GGG and sitting on the fence, go and meet awesome people and have a great time.
DK, we often dream of your brownies!!!
I won’t need a projector ….because Doug is letting me use his :)
Current weather forecast is chance of rain Friday 2/27 then intermittent clouds on Saturday and Sunday, so be sure to bring your rain gear and a decent shelter.
Thanks Doug.
FYI ticks are out and there are lots of them right now. Best to stick to the road and trails and away from grasses .
I volunteer to be the tick person should anyone need help identifying or  removing one. Bringing my scalpel ;)
Well I hope everyone is planning on bringing a decent shelter…It’s the GGG after all! I’ll be bringing 2 shelters: MLD Cricket in Cuben with InnerNet in sil (which is officially for sale, so I’ll bring it if it doesn’t sell by then), and my new shelter which should be arriving tomorrow… Â :)
Weather is looking OK as of this morning, forecast is partly cloudy/mostly sunny with a chance of showers.
Will there be a gear swap/trade, either there or in the parking lot after? I have a few odds and ends.
Per my preliminary schedule up near the top of the thread:
Saturday: 12 p.m. Vendors/swap meet
My plan was to hold the swap meet at one of the adjacent camp sites, so as not to conflict with the socializing activities at the main camp site. I have had some feedback that some sellers feel conflicted about mixing the two activities.
I plan to post a copy of the schedule at the main camp site for all to see.
I’ll be hiking in on Friday. Looking forward to it!
Kat,
Sent you a PM about a possible sewing project. Could talk more about it at GGG or???
Jane
Got it Jane. Meant to reply. Sorry…will do asap .
Weather forecast now looks awesome!
See you all one week from right now.
Yes
Perfect timing. When I called the rangers previously they said we would need a week to 10 days of dry weather before cars can be driven in, so we should all probably be prepared to haul in a piece or two of firewood each.
Just finished making the awards for the winners of the “off” contests.
Pre-registered head count is 21 so far. Based on past experience we can probably expect at least twice that number to actually show up.
See you all soon!
Not a bad turnout so far. With good weather forecast I encourage you to come. Still plenty of room, isn’t there David?
The old ranger said three days.
Plenty of room. Come one, come all! If we fill up the first site, I’ll just reserve the adjacent G04 site too.
3 days without rain before we can drive in would be great. I’ll be checking with the rangers again tomorrow.
Since Tony Wong can’t make it this year, do we have volunteer(s) to be the “official” photographer and trip report writer?
^ That’s gonna be a tough act to follow!
