This is a pic of my son and me on a Boy Scout troop float trip. It is on the Jacks Fork river near Eminence in southeast Missouri.

My avatar is from Mossbrae Falls in Dunsmuir, CA. It was taken in early 2007. Great spot to stop if you are driving on I-5 in Northern CA. Very easy hike. It takes maybe 20 minutes each way. Killer fly-fishing spot too! (Fred Gordon's amber-wing prince and Mike Mercer's micro mayflies in black!) But dont tell anyone, lol.

didnt have any hiking pics of me, but I will take some this weekend. This one I am using is of me after 4 days in the smokeys backpacking we decided to go see some of the Gatlinburg sights on the way home. Can't go wrong with The General Lee :)

Italy Pass with the upper part of Granite Park and the notch over to the Royce Lakes behind me – my best friend asked me to arrange for his bachelor party a trans sierra backpack trip. Only had 5 days, so we went from Bear Creek trailhead on the West slope to Pine Creek Pass on the East slope by way of beautiful Hilgard Branch, Bear Lakes & Italy Pass. Was a great trip.

My wife and I just moved from Arkansas to Seattle at the end of April. My avatar is a shot from the Little Si trail, which was our first hike together after we moved out here.

Very nice short little hike on a day with absolutely beautiful weather.

Mine is from a hike with my son, his sense of humor is evident.

although not visible it's me sitting in the eye of the needle @ chimney rock park in north carolina. beautiful views that day..just weeks after hurricane katrina relocated all my stuff…lol

Sand Run Falls in Pa. It was my wife's first time out and it's one of the few pics I have of myself as I am usually alone.

I finally got around to loading in an avatar. Mine is of myself standing on top of Shining Rock in SR Wilderness Area, NC taken by my buddy. No real significance to the pic other than this is probably the only time other than 1 other time that I have been on top of SR where it was sunny with blue sky.

School House Falls in Panthertown Valley, NC

This area is known as the Yosemite of the East.

We had dinner near the falls on a Friday night and you could see more stars in the open sky than I've ever seen anywhere. Quite stunning.

Mine is from our first trip to Yosemite and to the Sierra.

The trip was in late April of 2005. We flew into Fresno, spent three days in Sequoia in a little cabin and then three days in Yosemite in the little motel in Curry Village. We snoshoed and dayhiked in Sequoia and Dayhiked every day in Yosemite.

It was an unforgettable experience and definately one of our favorite vacations.

We're going back the first week of June and taking my parents who have never been.

@Beserker, @simplespirit – SRW and PV are on my list of "must see" spots. I'm about 4-5 hours south so NC/TN are our usual weekend getaways. There's so much to see in western NC, it's just amazing. Hopefully, I will actually be exploring one of these in November. :)

My current avatar is the result of a coworker, a camera phone, the perceived need for a pic of myself for internet useage, and way to much free time. :)

Cool thread! My avatar is me rock hopping a creek at the base of Mt. Sterling in GSMNP snapped by a hiking buddy cause I'm too much of a gram weenie to carry a camera.

Devils Causeway, Flat tops wilderness, CO

Well I dont know how long I will keep this one. Meet Ivor Iversen. He was an artic explorer that pretty much woke up on the wrong side of the bed for 2 overwinterings of Greenland. On a disastrous Danish expedition in Greenland, driven by the knowledge that Peary said there was a "channel" splitting Greenland, (Yay Sensationalist American Explorers!) Ivor and a man named Ejnar Mikkelsen went to search for the remains of the ill fated team from their basecamp, but then their rescue ship sunk and for two winters they stayed unrescued and driven basically to insanity. Which leads me to my suggested next project for Ryan Jordan and Andrew Skurka…

White Mountains New Hampshire.

It's a small mountain with spectacular views. The trail, UNC Trail, is a 3 mile loop south from the Kancamagus Hwy. with the trailhead about half way between Lincoln and Conway. Many other trails, including x-country ski trails, branch out from this trailhead.
