Psychoanalysts rub hands together with glee at profit imagined… Mine is from a Mandala in gold leaf and natural pigments I bought in Nepal many years ago; looking at it is interesting. I'm not that angry these days.

All those that look at this site on their phones don't see them at all

Mine was taken in Desolation Wilderness, on the second day of a 30ish mile hike. My dumb look was a result of my girlfriend telling me she managed to sneak in a six pack into my bag. She's a keeper.

"on the second day of a 30ish mile hike." … and you didn't notice it on night one … nor did she mention "a cold beer?" on night one. Apparently she has other significant attributes.

On top of Copper Ridge in the north Cascades and looking east. This is one of the premier loop hikes in the PNW.

I only know what she posted some time ago. Dog got ill and passed, and she got plantar fascitis. Hadn't seen many posts after that and none in several months. Kelly

Along with the avatars some of the location descriptions have also been entertaining.

My avatar was taken at The Pimnacle on the AT a few weeks ago. It was an amazing weekend weatherwise and there were literally hundreds of day hikers coming and going during the hour I spent there.

My avatar is a photo from an 80+ mile whitewater raft trip on the "main" Salmon River in central Idaho. First time in years I'd rowed a new river, it was fun and not too challenging big water Class III. This section of the Salmon flows through one of the largest roadless areas in the lower 48 states. Several ranches along the river don't have road access, they still get mail delivered by airplane. My wife took the picture in a calm stretch. Rare to see me on any river not wearing a helmet, though you can see it (red) just to my right. Typical truck load of gear and supplies for my wife and I on a week long trip like this weighs over 700 pounds. Rigging the boat at put-in takes about 5 hours. Kinda the opposite of Backpacking Light! — Rex

That's Old Snowy Mountain in Goat Rocks Wilderness on a day hike. You can see my shoe-ski tracks in the snow on the left, the PCT follows the actual ridge down.

On PCT trail leaving Campo going north 2014. A day into my five month journey. At that point all I could think about was how much I'd miss my husband. About three minutes later I stepped over a bull snake and didn't even care I was so distracted.

Mine (for now) is a close-up of the kooky over-the-top warning sign posted at numerous trailheads at Sabino Canyon National Recreational Area. It made me laugh for being so near-hysterical. My previous avatar was an artistically-blurred (I hope) close-up of a prickly pear plant outside my window. My next avatar — who knows? :^)
