@ Chris, we probably won't get to the park until 9:00-10:00 pm. We have about a
3 1/2-4 hr drive to get there and I don't get off until 6:00 pm.
Looking forward to seeing everyone. Jack

Kens: My son and I will be arriving Friday, but hiking in before dark. What campsite do we have Friday at Manzanita? We'll be waiting for you when you arrive.

Jeremy.

Jeremy. I will be there early on Friday. We have spots 9 and 10. Same as last year. See you guys there.

just a little over a month until the action starts…

Who is going to wake people up in the middle of the night?
Will there be a forcast of rain like in prior years?
Will I get drunk and make an idiot out of myself?? Hope not!
Will it snow like last year???
Will we get baked goodies again this year?
Will the original 15 or so create a drum circle and single campfire songs?

The only way to find out is to come along……and have a great time!

I will send my payment shortly. I will be plus 2. 1/2 the kids want to go. Lucy 9 and Dillon 16. Don't let this stop the mayhem either. I might have an addition of one of outdoor skills students also. But I asked them to read up on this and decide for themselves with there parent. Talk about one motivated middle schoolers who wants to learn about ultralight! He showed up with a home made alcohol stove to class on week 3 or 4. I hope he can go because he signed up to me my student teacher next semester. I an very excited for him if he goes. It is good to see lots of different equipment!

We will be there on Friday night. So I am sending $60. Just added – sent $60!

Thanks to all who are putting this together!

Last year it looked as though the upper campsite was the "quiet" zone. Am I correct in that assumption, and if so will that be the case this year? I ask because I'm trying to talk my significant other into coming, and he has sleep problems that require him to adhere fairly rigidly to a 10 pm bedtime, which I imagine could be difficult if we don't have a quiet site somewhere.

Anyone going down Friday afternoon/evening who wants to carpool? It'll be fun to talk about what to expect, and then after the weekend how crazy everyone was!

I live in Berkeley and can drive. You could be north or south of me a bit, either would work. What do you say?

PostedJan 15, 2012 at 2:18 pm

Debbie,

Yes you are correct the upper campsite was the quiet zone and it worked well last year.

Yes I plan on doing that again this time. Plenty of room to section off the sleepyheads.

Will also be bringing my 12 year old daughter. She had a blast last year!

Doug,
We're in San Leandro so it may work out, depending on whether we (my partner and I) both go, and for how many nights. I'm leaning towards getting out of my Saturday night gig, but will probably then have to go directly from Coe to downtown San Jose for my Sunday afternoon gig.

Complicated, but it might work out for me to ride down if my partner decides to only do Saturday, for instance. PM me if you're interested, and we can stay in touch as plans consolidate.

Hey kids. Don't forget that you can pedal your way into camp as well. A night ride into camp anyone?

Debbie,

Uh, I don't see how to PM someone here. Clues for a luddite?

Ken, you're listing the dates of the event as February 17-19. Are these the days or nites of the event? Will we be camping Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights? Assuming I'll be able to arrive for Friday nite. Just trying to plan things out. Thanks!

Hey Eric.
So we start Friday afternoon 2/17 we finish up Sunday afternoon 2/19. We have had people come in early and stay late too. With Monday being a holiday for some, why not.

Clear?

Debbie,

I don't see how to do PMs. Maybe it's only for members. You can email me:

Doug it is in your profile…..I think you need to set it up?

Folks, for what it is worth….Those coming in on Friday and are on the fence about hiking in at night. The hike is along a ridge line and most of it is pretty flat and it is on a fire road…real easy. 3 miles total??

I am sure you will here us (me?) within a mile of camp.

OK Campers.

If you are coming and have not yet spoken up, now is the time.

If you know you are carpooling, please let me know.

I am trying to get a rough estimate of how many cars. We overwhelmed the parking lot at the visitors center last year. We will be using the overflow lot this time around which I believe holds 30 vehicles.

Saturday morning. If you want stuff hauled to camp. I suggest getting there early so we can get your stuff to camp with the support vehicle.

We will of course be watching the weather as vehicle access, including bicycles is weather dependent.

PostedJan 16, 2012 at 9:56 pm

I intend to come out after work on Friday and night hike in. I have a station wagon with room for 4 other people and lightweight packs.

Sorry, I forgot to mention that I am coming from San Francisco. I will leave from Mission Bay/Embarcadero area.
