I’ve really been enjoying the conversation here — a reminder as to this great community.

The Peloton 97 Hoodie sounds like the piece I’ve been searching for…. a very lightweight insulating layer to be worn over a next-to-skin shirt and under a rain shell on wet summer hikes in the high Sierras. I’m hoping it is just warm enough with the hood option so I can save my down jacket for use in camp/tent in the evening.

My dilemma is that I am on the skinny side and I wear a size small, pretty much always.  When I contacted Kuiu they suggested trying the medium anyway since it runs a little small.  I am willing to do this, but I am wondering if worst case scenario it’s possible to have someone with sewing skills take in some of the torso material on the sides to limit bagginess of the medium? I wouldn’t mess with the rest of it, just trying to trim the torso area.

Thank you for your thoughts.

I think the 97 should do exactly as what you describe.

Try the Medium, it’s possible the Small would be better and there is no problem with exchanges if the Medium is too big.

Thanks Mike. I wanted to modify the medium because, unfortunately, it doesn’t come in a size small. Kuiu did not say they had plans to offer a small.

Not great for the smaller in stature among us. Apparently hunters are big strong guys only.

I think the Adahy Hoody would be like the MH MicroChill Lite fleece but that with the MH the microfleece is on the outside. Is it possible to get some more pics of what the fabric looks like on the inside and outside?

Adahy is microfleece interior, smooth outer. Highly breathable, stretchy, thin, not very warm though. Agree with most of the observations in the OGL Review. Probably my most frequently worn hoody. Have a few colors.

R1 Techface? I’m sure it’s a great piece but this is a 13.8oz hoody for winter use, in a thread about a 5oz hoody for 3 season backpacking…? Weight creep or simply off topic?

sorry to offend you David…. you could look at my 8oz much cheaper option earlier in the thread but don’t be upset that it only comes in womens although I know men that size up and wear them but again I do apologize for my  horrible link to Alan’s latest video review, it was pretty offensive but I can’t remove the post now so hopefully people can overlook it and save themselves from such a horror.

Sorry, Link, I realize in retrospect my post could be interpreted as harsh. I certainly wasn’t offended. In all honesty I was just amused at the ever “heavier” drift of the thread! So, even your 8oz suggestion fails to tempt!

Your links are invariably helpful and I’ve been guided many times by your links to useful threads in the forums or to interesting articles and reviews – much appreciated!

well I’ve used mine a bunch now; including a good workout on this year’s Bob Marshall Open and numerous summer/fall/winter/spring trips- I love it

it has become a staple piece in my kit- it’s warmer than it’s 5 oz would belie; works great as a mid-layer in three season weather, works well as a base layer in colder weather- also works great as a sleep piece

it’s so good, I bought the bottoms too :)

they even work for lounging around a campfire

@mtwarden-

Thanks for Peloton 97 review.  I’m considering the 97 hoody & either the Peloton 97 zip pants (thanks to you) or some Montbell Super Merino LW tights (85%wool, 15%poly) 120 g/m2. For sleep & multi-use.  Both pants are ~ 4.5 oz. Can I get an opinion?

Thanks!

I’ve got a pair of the Peloton 97 bottoms in medium I’d be happy to sell for $50 including US shipping. Maybe used twice, so excellent shape. fwiw. Been meaning to put them up on gear swap but haven’t gotten around to it yet.

the Peletons are pretty warm, can’t make a direct comparo as I’ve never tried the MB tights

I will say that I’ve used the full zip feature several times already and it’s handy!  Think cold morning eating breakfast and breaking camp, you take off, but leave the Peletons on- an hour or so it (and you) warms up, like a magician you undo the velcro at the waist and zip down and off- voila! :)

Thanks Mike.  Looks like a good option given zippers & weight.

@sleeping
– I’m interested.  But never have set up a PayPal (or even Venmo for that matter).  I’d miss the warranty too buying used.  Any room on price? And would I need to set up PayPal?  Thanks.  Steve H

How’s the fit on the Peloton pants? Slightly loose leggings instead of next to skin tight?  Thanks

Kuiu just opened an outlet store here in West Seattle.  I’ll need to go and check out those pants.  I own two of the Peloton 97 tops and really enjoy them.

I’d say tighter than looser, but not “tights” tight
