"Marshall is making it? Make it out of cuben, it'll definitely come out under 8oz."

We thought about it, but i think i would shred it too quickly. Nuff said :)

I like the idea of men in kilts. That said , I have an honest question. I have had female friends that had chafing issues, and to them wearing pants was the answer; how does skin to skin prevent chafing? Would it work better for thighs that don't each other and now don't have to rub on fabric? Would chubby thighs be better of with fabric?
I never wear skirts , and dresses I wear only on rare occasions and not when I have to walk a lot, so I am curious.

I honestly don't know why kilts work so well for me. Maybe it's an anatomy issue. Women have different "parts" than men and tend to be curvy where men are basically straight (well,i know i'm straight:).
I do use Band Aid brand anti-friction block and that combined with a kilt works for me. Weight might play a part, also.

Here is a bit of advice from a Scot. :)

This only applies if you go commando like a true Scot. ie, no underwear.

If you are wearing one of these modern lightweight kilts, make sure you wear a heavy sporran in front. Otherwise, if a nice looking lady walks by, you may develop a rather obvious 'tilt in yir kilt'. :)

Matt – What color is the finger nail polish you're wearing in that photo?

(Sorry – couldn't resist! ; ))

If you are worried about certain 'issues', but still want all the advantages, chop the legs off a pair of pantyhose, and wear that. ;)

zardos

You can also wear a "Zardoz" outfit to prevent "problems".

The guy in the picture is a famous Scott. Can't recall his name.

I hope i look as good in a diaper as he does. Notice he had to wear suspenders to keep it up:)
Where's his holster?

This should look good in dyneema too.

Disclaimer: Only offered in fun. Not personally opposed to kilts or anything else people may choose to wear.

OK, THIS IS the BPL forum — so let's get back on topic.

Why does anyone need a full-on tartan skirt when this covers everything that needs to be covered??

@Matt
I personally have no intention of ever wearing a kilt. However, I do appreciate your clear passion for the subject. And you might just have the calves to pull it off.

I've worn kilts for various functions but never hiking. Personally I think wearing boxer briefs with light nylon shorts or simply going commando with runners shorts work the same or better than wearing a kilt.

At lest for chafing, sweating, and 'monkey butt'.

If you're not Scottish, shallow, and need the attention then a kilt is the way to go. :P

A piece of useless info.

One of the main reasons the kilt was Scotlands ancient dress was the terrain. Due to the wet and boggy terrain, with frequent river crossings, it made more sense. Legs clad in fabric would have been a problem.
Also, he leather 'brogues' worn on the feet had plenty drainage holes in them, before fashion took a hold.

Chad,
I am Scott/Irish, not shallow (just don't care what insecure people like you think), and don't wear a kilt for attention…from males, anyway :) I have to wonder why it is that you keep posting on a kilt thread when you obviously dislike them so much? Try it before you bash it…or don't you have enough confidence?
