    If there is a decent amount of water around it is liberating to just ignore it and walk wet. My only compensation is that I might bring one or two extra pairs of socks if I know it will be a particularly wet trip, or where the chances of my socks eventually drying are low. A dry sock can also speed up the drying process in the shoe.

    Wet feet appear to rule.  Even Backpacker mag, in this month’s issue (Jul-Aug), there appears on page 42 the following article:  “Enjoy Hiking with Wet Feet.”  Resistance has become futile.
