The first photo was taken at our last camp on the Sierra High Route last summer right before going over Stanton Pass which is in the picture to the left of Virginia Peak.
The second photo was taken during the same trip at Darwin Lakes right before we went over Lamarck Col to resupply at North Lake.

My favorite camping spots are inside the araucaria woods and canyon edges in southern Brazil. The three pictures below were taken on a trail called “Araucarias Trail” (or informally “Transcânions“).

I’m not much of a photographer, but the scenes say it all. What is a tent for? Flopping down in after a long hard day. I witnessed this scene daily after my friend pitched each afternoon. Nap time!
Also along the JMT, a camp visitor on a soggy night after Muir Pass:
Mostly we camped in pretty sheltered forest areas, trying to be low enough for me not to be puking from altitude. But occasionally we camped up high; I enjoyed the beauty while also trying to maintain equilibrium. I did love the Notch Li and slept well every night.
