"The Kat Karrier would be impressive."
Carrying Kat's not that bad, she's rather small. But that chip attached to her shoulder …. man, there's some serious weight there!
Then quit calling it a chip!!! Sheesh.

According to the 6:25 pm weather discussion from the Eureka NWS office…

THE EXACT LOCATION OF THE UPPER LEVEL LOW AND THE RANGE OF
SOLUTIONS GOES FROM DRY AND PARTLY CLOUDY TO A DECENT AMOUNT OF
RAIN. CONFIDENCE IS LOW IN THE FORECAST SO WENT WITH A CHANCE OF
RAIN. MKK "
Edit: The original discussion was written in all caps. I really don't need
people to pay attention to me *that* badly.

I am injured and have decided not to go on this hike.
Sorry for the late notice.
Any sharing of gear? Water purification, stoves, shelter?
Repacked and have everything crammed in the Ohm.
I am bringing my Gigapower stove, Bearikade "Scout" and not to sure what shelter to bring because of the possibility of rain and wind. Either my tarp w/ bug shelter or TT Contrail and Aquamira for H2O. Umbrella and Dri ducks definitely. What gear would you recommend to bring to the far north? What's for dinner and how many Modelos are you bringing? What about some cards to play Gin or Hearts?–I know Kat likes a little jazz in the background at camp.
I'd bring the Contrail. Don't know what is for dinner yet. No beer for me this trip. No room in the pack. A little tequila perhaps.
I'm going to bring something for dinner on Friday @ Way.
Last chance for supplies for you is Garberville/Redway.
Headphones.
What gear would you recommend ken specific to the Lost Coast?
I haven't discussed shared gear with anyone and am packing my usual solo kit. I am wussing out and bringing the RidgeRest rather than the torso pad in case I get wetter than expected and need every bit of insulation I can get.
I'll bring several of the usual cerveza but nothing stronger as I am confident we will spend a lot of time very damp and I'll find it easier to monitor how warm I am with less booze.
Bring whatever will keep you the warmest and driest in variable weather conditions. Sounds like we will have a little of everything.
And a campfire.
Shared Gear: I have a very large tarp I could bring if rains too much. It will sit 4-6 close friends but it might be more effective if we stand under it if need be.
Kat and I will both have hammock tarps with us. Should provide enough roof for everyone. Thanks Jay.
Sorry guys. I have been debating and looking at the weather these last coupe of days. I worked in the rain/wind all last week and have been thinking about creek crossings, tides, wind and quite possible rain. Then I got an email asking me to teach a felting class on Sunday morning and that tipped the scale for me. I usually don't wimp out because of weather, and look at it as an adventure, but coming home on Sunday night all beat up and then get up at 4 to start a new week, just started not sounding too appealing. I am really sorry and hope this does not change the carpooling situation with Matt and Casey. I will ship the hat to you Ken.
Keep me in mind for the future; I won't make a habit of wimping out.
Have a great time and post an awesome trip report that will make me regret every bit of this.
Sorry to hear that Kat we will miss you. Hopefully we can get a hike in together in the Summer. Enjoy your down time!

Thanks Jay. I would really like to go to Emigrant Wilderness again. Kennedy Meadows was amazing.
We know you are no wimp. I'm sorry you won't make it. See you soon.
You'll be missed but I assume Casey is still going. This might move our departure time up.
Jay, I am bringing Aqua Mira in the original bottles so there is plenty to go around if you want to leave yours although I doubt the 1oz or so will kill you. I am just too cheap to buy smaller dropper bottles and repackage so I suffer along with the 3 ounces.
Thanks Mathew, I have a few spare repackage bottles for Aquamira to help you lighten your load. I will bring my mini bottles of Aquamira just as back up.
You guys must be packing and getting excited about the trip…Have a great time!
I was thinking the same (as Kat). Please submit photos and a trip report when you return.
