Ah Matt, you're a pal!
Wish I was coming, I'll have to settle for February!
Nov 2, 2011 at 2:46 pm #1797906Thanks guys, sounds like a plan. I'll start getting my gear together.
I'm cool with friday or early saturday, either one is fine with me.
Nov 2, 2011 at 2:50 pm #1797908Friday night, for sure. Ken's going easy on the start time and will huck wake-up beer cans only when strictly necessary.
Nov 2, 2011 at 2:59 pm #1797910haha, alright Friday it is. I'll check back here for meetup time/locale
Anybody planning on attempting any fishing during this trip? If not, I'll leave that gear at home.
Nov 2, 2011 at 3:04 pm #1797912I am not but it would be a nice thing to scout out considering the number of people in February.
Nov 2, 2011 at 5:13 pm #1797967Alright I'll bring it along then. Thanks again guys, I look forward to meeting you all.
Nov 2, 2011 at 6:02 pm #1797987I might be interested. Depends on if another trip falls through.
I'll be coming from Sacramento, and would love to carpool.
I drove by the area last weekend. Cache Creek is super low.
Nov 2, 2011 at 6:26 pm #1798000I only huck the empties. Will be nice to see everyone.
Nov 4, 2011 at 6:01 pm #1798659One week from right now I will be on my way down there.
So who all is going on this anyway?

Nov 5, 2011 at 7:32 pm #1798961I'll be deciding last minute (well probably by Thursday).
Nov 5, 2011 at 8:11 pm #1798979Ken,
If our local REI has it I will pick one up for you.Uh…on-line only in limon from REI. If you want it I can have it sent to store. Should be enough time.
Nov 5, 2011 at 8:39 pm #1798985Thanks Matt. I have it taken care of.
Nov 5, 2011 at 8:50 pm #1798991Catch and release? At the bottom of that BLM page:
"Fish Consumption Advisory: The California State Office of Environmental Health Hazard Analysis has issued a health advisory for fish and shellfish from Clear Lake, Cache Creek and Bear Creek."
I'd like to go but would have to be home by saturday night. I'm not doing anything anyway so I think Nancy and I will head up Wed. night and head out saturday. Maybe I'll high five you guys as we pass or happen along somewhere at the same time like at Emerald Lake.
Nov 5, 2011 at 9:14 pm #1798997The region has been under an advisory since the 80's. Women of childbearing age and children should limit themselves to one meal per week of "sport fish" according to the OEHHA.

Nov 5, 2011 at 10:22 pm #1799010It appears that it will rain next weekend. I finally find out how much I like my poncho shelter in a storm;)
Nov 5, 2011 at 11:04 pm #1799021Only 40% or so chance. We might get lucky. Duomid for me. And the Vanagon…
Nov 6, 2011 at 1:32 pm #1799146Well looks like I'll have to re-think which pack I'm taking, haha. I'm actually more excited now!
Nov 7, 2011 at 5:20 am #1799311Heading out Friday.
So who all is going on this anyway?
Nov 7, 2011 at 8:48 am #1799357I think, given the weather and all, this will be a great opportunity to test out my new MYOG pack since it will hold my extra wet/cold-weather gear.
Nov 7, 2011 at 1:10 pm #1799446Nice positive attitude from you and Matthew. Mother Nature, Bring It!
Nov 7, 2011 at 1:14 pm #1799448Maybe in. Working on it. I will know on a couple of days.
Nov 7, 2011 at 1:16 pm #1799449Rain: it's also only for one night in the backcountry. Might get a lot more, "Are we there yet?" if it was for several days;)
Nov 7, 2011 at 3:55 pm #1799509Hey, we don't buy rain gear for nothing!
in my experience, the roughest weather always make for the best trips!
Nov 7, 2011 at 6:11 pm #1799556Well James, I am wussing out to the extent that I will probably bring a rain jacket as well as a 5×8 tarp. I am sure it will be a fantastic trip no matter the weather.
