I’m in.
Ian, what do we owe you?
I’m a probably.
Nice choice. I’ve stayed at (a, the?) group camp there and it’s very pleasant. Way nicer than the place we went near Oly the first time. Tree-d, lots of space, and you can pitch your shelter as close or as far as you want from the fire ring. If it rains, the big cooking shelter will save the day.
As I remember we had plenty of parking.
I wasn’t going to set a entry fee with the hopes that folks will bring their family/kids/SOs and I didn’t want this to become a $60 adventure for anyone, but $10-$15 per individual and family group should cover it. Less if you bring good scotch. More if you bring the rot gut. We haven’t been close to 25 participants yet but there will be an additional fee if we go over that number. My guess is that we’ll be closer to the 10-15 campers range.
Upper limit for this site is 40 campers.
I will likely bring my kids as the map shows a swimming hole of some sort.
Hope to see you there Katherine. From looking at pictures, it looks hammock friendly?
huckleberries, the red ones. we ate a lots of them. It was the kids’ first car camping trip.
Bring the hammock, pretty sure it should be doable.
The swimming area isn’t anything to write home about, but it’s good enough to keep kids happy.
A couple more things…
We discussed this at Surprise Lake last year but never came to a consensus. I’d like to rename this to something other than GGG since it’s pretty different that what’s going on in California. Not better or worse, just different. For me, it’s about the people, not the gear. But that’s just me and I’ve certainly appreciated the opportunities to see other folks gear in action, but that’s not why I go to these. If you have an idea for a new name, please share.
For the past two years I haven’t tried to hit up any of the cottage gear folks for freebies or demo gear and I have no intention of hitting them up this year. I’m not against it but that’s not my style. If any of you want to take that on, please feel free.
That’s good to know about the swimming area. I’ll likely leave the tandem kayak at home and maybe bring a raft for them.
LMAO! Who reported Doug for saying “I’m in”?
Too funny!
Edit: My money is on Jeffs
“LMAO! Who reported Doug for saying “I’m in”?”
This place. At least they could have waited until they found out exactly who/what I’m in…

Hmm. I will be back from Switzerland and may have accrued enough miles for a free flight. Would love to come up there.
Fly into Seattle and I’d be happy to pick you up Kat.
Okay, uncharacteristically somewhat serious this time.
Name? We don’t need no steenkeen name! It’s just a friendly get-together, no name needed.
If we must have one, then I like Ian’s Excellent Adventure Group.
I’m definitely in the “needs a name” camp.

Could just call it The Gathering. Give it a slasher/coven kinda feel…
