I am completely stealing this from the backpacker forums…. Thanks to BBK302

40% off at http://www.backcountry.com…

okay…here's the deal

40% off regular price for everything at backcountry.com and backcountryoutlet.com

go to backcountry.com and put anything you want in your basket. click on the outlet tab and checkout. enter promo code "2×6-1-2BSWR"

They have pretty much everything.

Their website doesn't always work with Firefox. You might have to use IE…

I just picked up a few things and got it to work for me.

I had to sign into backcountry outlet.com then swithch over to backcounty, add the items and then switch back to the outlet, checkout and add the code there. I picked up a Montbell thermawrap, 2 pairs ex officio boxers, new platy tube, micropur tabs and a Petzl e+lite for $150.

The trick is exactly following instructions. You have to be on the "outlet" tab- with the URL popped over to backcountryoutlet.com when you enter the promotional code.

All items from the main backcountry.com store and the outlet get marked down to 40% off list, or the existing sale price whichever is lower.

I pasted the promotional code including hyphens and case, it worked great last night:
2×6-1-2BSWR

Thanks guys! Works now! :)

Changed my mind. :(
I noticed that they use UPS for international shipping. UPS always go through Customs. Any savings would be wiped out. USPS is the only option i use, as i have only been charged customs fees on around 20% of my orders from the US using USPS.

Not only does this work, it's legitimate as well. When I first read this, I thought that it sounded a bit dishonest. Shopping on the regular site and then checking out on the outlet site with a discount code? Come on…

So I called Backcountry and although the guy I spoke with had not heard of this, he said to go ahead and do it.

Thanks for the heads up, just saved a bundle on a Montbell sleeping bag.

I was also thinking that it must've been a mistake to let regular items get the discount. Now I can feel less guilty about saving a bundle on that ice axe I'd been wanting :)

…and my order already shipped! Wow.

Thanks for the tip!

Bet it's fixed shortly

I am still debating getting the Exos 58 for $130 ($219 originally!)

I just tested it and it's coming up as invalid redemption code now.

I wonder if they'll honor the orders I sent in?
A very nice set of prices, if so.
I got an email saying my orders were confirmed.
I was about to email everyone I know until I read the last note. Alas.

To the guy who got the code rescinded…thanks a lot!

Didn't get anything before they took it back.

I did check the site and there were a few things I could use, mostly consumables. Saved about $70. Plus no tax and no shipping.

Already got the email confirmation, so I am good to go.

Still getting the invalid message….and I really want a BA Clearview pad. grr

Just tried it again- the code still works. Follow the instructions carefully.

I ordered last night and got a confirmation that "Your order is complete … We know this isn't your first time. By now you're practically family, so we bumped your order to the front of the line. Your order will ship free UPS Ground. " Then I got the shipping confirmation today.

I just retried in IE and firefox thinking my IE had it cached. I get invalid code in both instances while following the directions exactly.

I think they're offering free shipping for orders over $50 BEFORE calculating the discount- I put a Marmot ION jacket in the cart with a list price of $59 and a discounted price of $36. It shows free shipping.

On edit- I may be seeing cached info. I'm not going to order anything to confirm since I just got my paycheck and it appears "downturned".

Now I just need someone to send their cookie….hahaha

Yah, they've wised on. If you got it to work once (as I did), don't clear your cache or it won't work.

PostedFeb 27, 2009 at 2:12 pm

Yep, same here. Tried IE and Firefox, exactly as stated. No discount. Too bad, I was about to make a really big order.

>So I called Backcountry

Sigh… Don't call up the retailer to ask about a coupon code like this. Awesome way to get it deactivated.

I can't it to work either but then again I am buying some sale stuff so that might be it

WHOOOOO-HOOOOOOO, ROB THE MAN!

(alas, even at 40% off, I'm too poor to steal, er…I mean shop)
