Sorry to read that the hardcopy magazine is discontinued.

Now, in your copious free time, how about designing/commissioning a UL canister stove that can connect to a fuel canister remotely? I am unimpressed with the added complexity and weight of existing models from MSR, Snow Peak, etc. How about it, BPL?

Hi Ben

Tony and I are working hard on this. Stay tuned.

But you will have to be a MEMBER of BPL to buy them …

Cheers

Roger,
Cheeky, cheeky…but I had to smile at it.

Ben,
As much as you contribute to the forums, a person would think that you'd on staff (in addition to being a member). Glad to hear your input regardless. Hey, you must be expecting clear skies ahead since you're selling all of your rain gear!

Hey Roger — Not a problem — just make the thing truly simple and truly light. I'm sure you guys can do it!

Thomas — your Driducks are on their way to you.

Hi Roger,

>Tony and I are working hard on this. Stay tuned.

I thought this was supposed to be secret until big launch in a few weeks.

Tony, Tony, Tony…you have to let some info slip out to the media before any big launch, it's called creating a hype.

About a week before the launch, you'll see some revealing photos of Roger in the tabloids…that stove will go platinum in the first 10 minutes. :)

Works for Brittany Speers every time!

How about the naked skier avatar again?

> that stove will go platinum in the first 10 minutes.
Please! Not platinum, TITANIUM!

SnowPeak23 under development
Development work on one model which uses a SnowPeak burner – testing out other parts of the design. At home in the workshop.

Field test of Snow Peak 23
Morning tea a week ago, dropping down to Coxs River, with field test model of the above stove design. Total weight from canister connector to pot supports about 120 grams. Liquid feed, twin valve, fast boiling, winter-rated, works with ANY resealable canister (screw-thread, Powermax, CampingGaz).

But I want to get rid of the Snow Peak burner too, in favour of my own design. That too is coming.

Cheers

Nah. You're just a nerd in general, Sam.

Sounds great. When can I preorder? Put my name on the list.

Is there a swivel connector because it's hard to see on the picture. Seems preferable to me though.

I knew there would be a huge interest in this when I posted. I am thrilled that BPL is already a couple of steps ahead. Great nerds think alike. :)

We've already seen revealing photos of Roger (in a previous avatar). I don't recall that it had the same effect:-)

I can't make out if there is a preheat tube on this sucker for winter use, or do you not need one? I thought that was key for cold weather use.

My Coleman powermax is looking a bit nervous. Could this be a viable replacement?

I copied the bottom picture and zoomed in tight. It seems that one of Roger's brass "preheat tabs" lurks in the shadows, at the tube-stove junction. If I survive the rush when this comes on the market I may not have to get a stand to invert the canister on my Windpro. I'm pleased to see the Snow Peak Giga stove head being used. Less Carbon Monoxide production for winter in-tent use. I'm sure Roger's new design will be optimized per all his research.

My Xtreme is also looking over its shoulder …

I can almost hear a collective shriek of childish excitement as I read the reactions to this potential holy-grail of canister stoves. "Discretionary" spending my butt. Is there an expected ball-park price for the stove yet? Are we talking Bush Buddy expensive or new oven range for my kitchen expensive? :)

Speaking of price…

For those of us who's got a Gigapower stove already — how about selling a retrofit kit as well?

Hey guys – this started out as a private quest to understand how stoves really work, and to make a UL winter stove for myself. Going commercial was not originally on the radar. The 'compliance/approval' costs are pretty steep.

However, let me get my design sorted out first, then we will see. Cost? No real idea at this stage. Without Chinese mass production, not as cheap as many COTS stoves for sure.

Cheers

I am very close to having a UL remote canister stove that could be put into production but the costs of compliance/approval and getting it to the manufacturing stage are just too high.

Hi Ben,

I think this "New Project for BPL" started out as just a lot of butt gas from Roger.

I don't mean that he isn't always working on a stove – but that his comment that he and a friend were working on "this" stove project to sell here.

On that subject I think this is all a lot of gas. I do hope I am proven wrong.

Don't blame BPL when it never happens.

PS.
Tony, We must have been typing at the same time. I do think "you" will get something together as I have watch your great craftsmanship over the last months. I have seen what you can do and expect you would get one ready if as you say the approval – costs – etc could be worked out.
