BG was an F

He was nothing, then policy was changed that you had to pay to be able to post, to reduce spam, but people like BG were grandfathered and given an F without paying anything

Jerry, that is not quite true. I'm not going to speak for Bob on this, but suffice it to say that before the grandfathering money was paid (is that like the politicians' "mistakes were made"?), and Bob has been following all the rules.

I feel like he has made a great contribution on here. Many, many of his posts are very useful – in fact I have some of them bookmarked including some recopies. We may wink at each other and joke about his minor corrections, but like I said I'd seriously be happy to pay his life membership fee myself, though I know he wouldn't let me.

Its not a pure account issue, unless as a pretext. One of the points of rules is to avoid the arbitrary application of actions based on whim, and I don't think BPL management comes out on top in this particular case if we discuss the issue from a purely rules-based standpoint.

Ken, I'm afraid that is only too true. I wish they would just return his account to its previous state. Short that I afraid nothing is going to happen, though I think it would only be fair, and yes, according to the written policy, for Bob to finally get some sort of official notification of the action already taken, and the reason for it. Otherwise we really ARE in some kind of Kafka novel…ship probably already sailed on that one.

But didn't Ryan try to end this when he asked that Bob contact him and they would discuss the issue ?

Willie….*SIGH*

As Francis Urquot might say, You might say that, I couldn't possibly comment.

Suffice it to say that I think the whole thing has now moved into the "style-over-substance-Kafkaesque-when-an-unstoppable-force-meets-an-immovable-object-paradox" stage.

I wish it was as easy to resolve as the old LNT idea of "him who made the mess should clean it up", but even that simple one gets harder and harder to interpret as time goes by.

Maybe someone could write a basic apology for the immutable object and he could send it to the unstoppable force ?

As someone who has read a lot of interesting posts here on BPL and has appreciated those who post often, such as BG, I hope this gets sorted out.

I hope that all involved have the maturity to take steps to make amends. If both sides are justifying their position by thinking the other should take the first steps, no one wins.

Hopefully, all can be made right with some forgiveness and reconciliation.

Peace

Dear Power,

I see now that your unstoppable power trumps my immovable objections to your heinous abuse of the English language. Well played sir, may I please have my account back ?

So very very sorry,
Object
