weird, I don’t remember posting about windscreens
oh, it’s that other Jerry A : )
Yep..The World can only handle 2 of us..Thank the Lord!!!!
Kinda floppy surely. Picks up stuff from the ground too.
My thoughts ( never owned or built a metal) is yes floppy, but packs small, very lite, can be used as a hot pad, but not to many people use them on a trail,so there must be a reason..
I have heard of people using ordinary CCF and also a sort of fabric ‘beach shelter’ arrangement. I am sure there is either an article or a thread about it here on BPL.
EDIT – Search
Ah yes: Will Rietveld wrote some articles in 2006 about windscreen and fuel efficiency:

https://backpackinglight.com/comparative_fuel_efficiency_and_weight_of_stoves_pt2/
Doing a Search on ‘fabric windscreen’ brings up several more articles. Colin Krusor started a long Forum thread about the use of silica fabrics for this in 2012 at
https://backpackinglight.com/forums/topic/69707/
Which goes to show just how much info is already here if you use the Search function. It may not be perfect, but it does work.
Cheers
I’ve used two panels of z-lite as a wind screen, which also serves as back padding in my backpack and a sit pad.  The major downside is I have to hold it in place the whole time.
