Which coffee tumbler?

I am looking for a very light weight container for 10 ounces of liquid coffee. I want the coffee to stay hot while it is in my bag for hours, so likely titanium double walled. Not a mug as I want to just throw it in my bag, it may get knocked around.

Thanks!

Montbell makes their Alpine Thermos in 3 sizes:

  • .35 L (weighs 8.3 ounces)
  • .5 L (weighs 9.3 ounces)
  • .9 L (weighs 13.4 ounces)

That thing pretty much begs to be filled with latte. Very nice.

Coffee drunk from metal tastes like metal. My kingdom for a glass vacuum bottle.

The GSI Microlite bottles work great I own both sizes and they stay very hot for many hours.

The GSI bottle (with the flip lid) is very similar to the Zojirushi, but the Z is a little nicer in that the lid folds back farther so you don’t press your nose against the neck plug with each sip and the lid components can be taken apart for cleaning (I assume the one linked to earlier has these features, anyway- mine does). But you can’t go wrong with either. I have both.

I’ll take your kingdom in the lump sum payment please:

Zowie! You might have a kingdom coming. Unfortunately, I haven’t built one yet, but as soon as they start calling me kingbb, the check will be in the mail, assuming…

…that the glass lining extends to the outside metal rim where your lips would touch. Can’t tell from the awful, nearly useless, modern website.

If the company name didn’t scream “Hipster” at high volume, the website certainly does. I doubt many who frequent BPL are in that company’s target audience :)

No worries, I’m patient. But you’re going to have to quit hanging out on internet BB’s and get to work!

Yes, the website, while “beautiful”, is far from informative. I’d reccomend contacting them…

The GSI Microlite thermos is just stainless steel no liner material.

I use the Zojirushi thermos in the car only and brew up a 16 oz nalgene for all-morning coffee sipping while walking.

So I went with the GSI option though that hipster/glass insert looks great but I will not use this enough to justify that.

The Kleen Kanteen pales in comparison to the Zojirushi. Three hours tops vs. twelve keeping things hot.

Glass lined, no thanks. Broken way too many like that as that was what we had as kids in our lunchboxes.

Ken, I was thinking the same thing about the glass lined one also! I still remember the sound of the broken glass inside my thermos(I had Road Runner)

I think I’d rather drink glass shards than taste metal in my coffee.

(I had Flipper.)

Up until the 1960’s, Thermos made vacuum bottles with a corrugated aluminum shell in several sizes down to a pint. If you haunt eBay with a search for one, it will come up sooner or later. I occasionally find them at thrift stores and yard sales, but the quart size is most common. I make musical instruments from them!

Here’s a pint version: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Ribbed-Aluminum-PINT-THERMOS-Vacuum-Bottle-Model-2284H-w-Poly-Top-Cup/372599785755?

Both ti and stainless are non reactionary metals. I don’t get a taste but prefer the texture of a glass mug.
