<p style=”text-align: left;”>After watching/listening/reading Ryan’s upright canister stove and Stove bench testing…. I was prepared to move from my often underperforming Snow Peak Lite Max to an MRS Pocket Rocket Deluxe. It only pushes my current weight system up by .8 oz. The weight of my new system would be:</p>
MSR 2.7

Snow Peak 600ml 3.8

Gossamer Cozy .5

For a total of 7 oz. The exact same weight of the Stash. Weight is one aspect for sure. But looking for efficiency and wind resistance comparisons to maximize fuel canisters for long trips with no resupply.
Any beta (besides the new Adventure Alan review) available in terms of how the new Stash compares with the MSR Deluxe on these two points?

Caveat…

I only use a stove to boil water for rehydrating homemade freezer bag meals and for coffee. No extended boil times or simmering necessary…

I backpack mostly in the High Sierra and never at temps where I would be boiling at temps under about 30 degrees.

Instead if the PocketRocket Deluxe, you might consider the Soto Amicus or Soto WindMaster (3 Flex) both are well rated in the wind.  MSR copied the PocketRocket Deluxe design from Soto.  My 2 cents.

I’ve used both the windmaster and PRdeluxe

I think they’re pretty equivalent, either is good

The piezo failed on the PRDeluxe.  Unscrew the burner and reinsert wire to get it working again.  Once, it just wouldn’t work, but then started working again, maybe there was some object in sparker that then got dislodged.

The way the pot stand connects to the burner on the Windmaster is poor.  The metal is in the flame so it degrades over time.  It would be better to attach down below out of flame.  But the windmaster connection is simpler so maybe that’s okay.  It’s taken many many nights for the metal to degrade but it’s only aesthetic so far, hasn’t actually failed.  I use it a lot so maybe this wouldn’t be a problem for most users.
