Sounds good! Is there anything I can help with?
Feb 2, 2018 at 4:34 pm #3516181Hi Everyone,
As Ken indicated, I’m not going to be able to attend GGG X. Nothing to do with the event or BPL, but there are some major developments in my personal/family life taking place which take priority.
I’m still willing to make the medallions for the various contest winners if someone will step up and and run them. PM me and I’ll send you the medallions.
I’ve started a practice of creating meta meditations every morning. Here is the one for today, which I send out to all of you:
Start with yourself with hands on heart:
I wish you peace
May your spirit be CalmI wish you happiness
May your heart be FullI wish you health
May you be StrongThen open and spread arms and make the same wishes to:
Those in conflict with us
Family
Friends
Those around us
End with the worldLooking forward to seeing everyone next year!
Feb 4, 2018 at 3:09 am #3516387We’ll miss you David.
See everybody soon.
Feb 4, 2018 at 3:44 am #3516398Kat,
Most definitely
Feb 7, 2018 at 4:28 am #3517007David, thanks for sharing that meditation. I hope your family developments work themselves out. Best wishes.
Jacob.
Feb 7, 2018 at 7:41 am #3517033David, heart, spirit and strength be with you and your family. Hope all will be well soon.
Andrea and I will miss seeing everyone at this GGG, but we’re excited to be back home later this spring and look forward to hiking with you and to a next GGG, as well as to meeting some NE BPL’ers too.
Feb 8, 2018 at 2:31 pm #3517269Knowing Ken, I bet he is all packed up already :)
Looks like glorious weather ahead. Can’t wait.
Feb 8, 2018 at 8:25 pm #3517312Lol, not quite packed. One room is a disaster with all the stuff in there.
Feb 9, 2018 at 12:57 am #3517361Just got off the phone with Officer Naber. We are expected. They just got some dough to fix the water tank situation. Not in time for us, but soon.
Those driving up late, watch for deer. Take it easy on the drive up.
Feb 9, 2018 at 7:59 pm #3517509Current forecast looks promising

Van is reportedly ready, got a quick upgrade :o
Feb 9, 2018 at 9:58 pm #3517527Good news Erik. Water is heavy.
Feb 10, 2018 at 5:06 am #3517611I’ll be bringing a UL, 30-foot titanium cell tower to the GGG, will need some help setting it up….
Feb 10, 2018 at 5:11 am #3517613Manpower will not be in short supply Doug. Who’s bringing the solar panels?
Feb 10, 2018 at 5:06 pm #3517652The van has solar…lol
Feb 10, 2018 at 5:19 pm #3517655Can I bring my rc airplane? We can get some really great video from above… :) or do the rangers frown on us rebel types?
Feb 10, 2018 at 5:33 pm #3517656Here are some rules for use, but they are allowed. I love a different perspective.
Feb 10, 2018 at 11:51 pm #3517705For the gear swap at GGG X, I’m looking to pay forward some MLD gear:
- MLD frameless kids pack. My daughter used this over many years before she outgrew it. Great way to introduce your kid to lightweight ways from the outset of their backpacking career. Weighs about 9 oz.
- MLD superlight bivy. Silnylon bottom. Still in great shape. This one has the window bug screen. I switched to a larger size and a full mesh top so don’t need this one anymore.
- MLD silnylon tarptent with guylines on mini carabiners. I’ve switched to a different rain gear system and tarp so ready to pass this one on.
Really just about any price / swap / need is ok for these. Looking for them to find a good home with someone that will use them and not just resell them so come armed with a convincing story if not anything to trade or cash.
I also have a frameless MLD exodus size small that I could bring if anyone is really interested. I’ve replaced it with a newer medium so don’t need it.
See you next weekend.
Jeremy
Feb 10, 2018 at 11:59 pm #3517707Is streaking still a thing? Just trying to ensure I’m ready for GGG X Games.
Feb 11, 2018 at 12:12 am #3517709Wow. That went downhill fast.
That? It was Doug

Feb 11, 2018 at 10:27 pm #3517847I’m hoping to make it for at least Saturday and Sunday. Never been so looking forward to it. Andrew
Feb 12, 2018 at 1:45 am #3517913If anyone is trying to manage their food calories tightly:
I’ll bring some (Alaskan sockeye) smoked salmon spread and crackers.
Also some caribou pastrami à la Manfred.
From the land where your food weight is often MORE on the way out than on the way in.
Feb 12, 2018 at 8:57 pm #3518034@David I am looking forward to trying that out . We’ll have you go back nice and light :)
Feb 13, 2018 at 1:25 am #3518099Oh geez, I’m so bummed I’ll be missing GGG X and all the great people and friends I’ve made there over the years! Hope you all have a beautiful weekend, and post lots of pictures!
