Slight change, but the description states that it now weighs 528g. Still, I am really hoping someone has the wherewithal to get one and try it out.

the guy in the review said it weights 448g, i think he measured it

a fellow BPLer got one not to long ago and seems happy with it …

https://backpackinglight.com/forums/topic/overall-impressed-with-aegismax-sleeping-bag-from-china/

looks like he also bought it from here for a bit cheaper …

http://www.aliexpress.com/store/group/Aegismax/1302938_258170319.html

i know BPLers luuuv to shiet on chinese products …. but my fellow yellow bellies are quite good at producing certain products … as the BRS 3000T shows

the last “big 4” of $$$$ products from big western brands, the sleeping bag, the tent, the pad and the pack will fall soon to the AZN mass produced hordes … the big brands already make em in asia

its not like a sleeping bag is rocket science, its more a matter of having decent materials and proper sewing

what many folks dont realize is that theres a growing large market for outdoor gear in asia (especially china) for decent cheap outdoor goods … one that western manufacturers have a hard time filling except for the top end due to the branding premiums

I’m sure that down was collected in a humane manner … not.

I just got one of these in last week. Came in at 14.7oz. $68 total. A+

im sure that tasty BBQ duck i ate last week was killed on a humane manner … not

weird that the “morality police” werent around when those costco 20$ down quilts were on sale … they were probably too busy running to the nearest costco

according to Amazon, the weight increase is due to an upsizing to fit us overly large Americans

I have the blue aegis max bag. I bought it for $85. It came it in spec at 24oz. I’m happy with it but just looking at it I’d rate it at 35-40deg at best. I haven’t had a chance to test it yet. I primarily bought it as a loaner bag. not very much loft. Sewn through. I wouldn’t even be surprised if the rating was closer to 50deg in reality. I wish they made a lower temp rated bag. It seems like they could make a true 20deg bag for around $125-150 for under 30oz.

I find it interesting that more and more of the “direct for manufacturer” gear is now available through Amazon, Ali Express or even EBay.

As Eric said, more and more people are buying their gear (And clothing) this way.

The quality is mixed..but so is any gear or clothing bought here in the US.

The BRS stove is a good example of how word can get out that an inexpensive, direct from China, piece of gear fills a niche better than something three-times as much.

My prediction? I think more and more people will buy direct from China ..with the caveat it will be word of mouth that helps sort out the dross from the gems.

“Weight:528g Compres size :20cm*12 cm;Note:This item changed to Plus size (Which is more suitable for UAS buyer)now,it weight 528g,not 440g.”

Lay off the Doritos, America.

Wow, that’s quite a mark-up Amazon! ($72 vs. $61, both incl. shipping).

Despite being the OP in the Chinese Windshirt frenzy, I own very little direct-from-China gear (just the windshirts and a $4 EVA sit pad). I recently bought a replacement windshirt (I lost one during a thru-hike) and quickly noted that they have “porked up” their sizing, including lengthening the sleeves. And I still prefer these windshirts to any I’ve tried, including the Houdini (YMMV).

Hmmmmm, tempting to try one of these…if only for a Camino-type hut-to-hut trip…

When did you purchase the new windshirt? And….about how much longer would you say the sleeves are now? You said they increased the sizing? I normally wear a large (US) and bought a XXL which fit correctly…so you are saying I would need to buy like a XL now instead?

Ordered the g400 bag and the mid i posted anove

ill post back up when it arrives

the possibility of a decent quality 800 fill bag and a mid + inner for 200 yankee dollahs is too great to ignore

if it works out itll be a game changer in opening UL to the unwashed teeming poor masses

I’ve just started buying odds and ends from AliExpress; free shipping and fast (to Korea); but latest item wasn’t quite what I ordered. They have a dispute process, so I’m working thru that. I spotted that mid that Eric posted, and wondered about it. Cheap prices!

P.S.
I went thru and looked at the entire range of tents (and also the entire range of pots and of stoves) on AliExpress – it took forever, there are so many…

As regards humane Down collection, that is a concern of mine. However, even though i eat vegetarian and vegan most of the time (selective pescatarian some of the times), i don’t have a problem with death of animals–to me, death is a part of life. I do have a problem with live plucking though. While live plucking is more common in China than in other areas, eating the animals is even more common too, and so the birds also get plucked after being killed. If an animal is going to be killed for food, i see it as more practical and respectful to use as much of that animal as possible.

I simply don’t have pockets deep enough to support only humane sourced down and down products, and meanwhile, there are environmental pros and cons with going with synthetic vs down as well. The larger environmental issue(s) is also important to me as well. If a person can afford to support only the most ideal all of the time, well my hat’s off to you. I live pay check to pay check.

To some extent, my personal philosophy has relaxed of late, mostly because i see it all as probable as collapsing in the near(ish) future, and a very different civilization and humanity eventually arising out of the ashes of the old (one that treats well and respects all life, the Earth, and each other). As i think the collapse part will happen within 4 or so years max, and maybe as soon as within the next year, i’m not as severely concerned about a lot of these issues as i’ve been.

Robert let us know how that dispute process goes. The mixed reviews on the shelters puts me off a bit. They seem to short for someone 6’3″ also. But yes, the price is hard to ignore.
