I was wondering if anyone could suggest a decent backpack in the $100 or less range?  Doesn’t have to be super light but some durability  and comfort would be nice.  Thanks.

You need to watch the sales and Gear Swap. I’ve gotten three packs for that, but you have to be like a bear staking out a hiker’s food stash.

I got an REI Flash 65 for $90. Maybe $99. I don’t use it much because it’s a bit too much volume for what I need and because it’s too busy with the many zippers/straps/etc.

Montbell has several models  under $100 or close and good packs too. https://www.montbell.us/products/disp.php?cat_id=14011&p_id=1123882

I’m surprised their packs arent more popular. They dont come in sizes, which may be part of that.

I’ve only ever bought one backpack, and it was a kelty redwing 44lt for $75 sale. I’ve never used it for hiking, but it is great for travel, fits airplane dimensions, otherwise I use it everyday, keep all the things I own organized in it which is why I bought it.

With some trimming I got it down to 2lb 3oz and it is comfortable

What size pack do you need? Framed or frameless? For a new pack that’s frameless, fairly durable and moderate in size, you can get a MLD Core 28L in Dyneema X for under $100 new. Add in a couple shoulder strap pouches and you still only at $105 total.

You can often find the Granite Gear Virga 2 for around $100
