There are new BPL customers every day.

An educated consumer makes the best decisions.

Sure Ryan's inactions make me crazy. I'm far from perfect, obviously. Work in progress…

And sure Justin is not my kind of person. It's the constant judging, preaching, me monster, and huge thread drifts like this mess that puts me off more than anything. That's why as a rule I just scroll past. He's not the only one. I'm sure I get treated the same by others. Good thing for diversity. Keeps the world interesting.

I can forgive, I just don't forget.

I think what set Justin off was my comment made in this thread that was actually in reference to Ian's opening post in the thread I linked to. The context will seem rational.

Back to the actual topic of BPL reacting to the adverts. I will have to say it is nice to see some form of communication attempt being made with the subscribers. My criticism is why it took so long.

I apologize for setting things adrift.

I'm done here, carry on.

> I've been around enough PhD's to know that, ….
Let me explain how it really goes:
BSc: BullS…
MSc: More S…
PhD: Piled Higher and Deeper

Evidently what we have here is a failure to communicate on a matter of paramount importance to the future of civilization as we know it, and during the depths of winter to boot. Before we stop the world and everyone gets off, can someone announce whether Spring is just around the corner?

"Let me explain how it really goes:

Exactly as it was explained to me by a wise old professor with a refreshing sense of humility long ago. :)

"Before we stop the world and everyone gets off, can someone announce whether Spring is just around the corner?"

That has been bumped up to a higher level of authority for a final decision, since Tallbloke, Fellabaum, et. al. can't seem to come to an agreement. As usual.

Dunno about the Hiking Singles, but the Nail Fungus treatment seems somewhat relevant to me…

Huh. Maybe the boots are for hiding the nails.

'Cause if you're interested in meeting hiking singles you'd better not show them off in that state.

Any update on when these ads will go away? No reply to my tickets I submitted. Of course Maia is probably handling this and typing with paws is difficult.

LOL. The management of this site is comical at best and a disaster at worst.

I'm still seeing a lot of the ads for foreign women. I swear the Asian girls don't look a day over 15.

Decisions, decisions. On the one hand I'm leaning more toward the Russian women because their culture is similar to mine, yet on the other hand the Asian girls are more likely to be subservient. It might be nice to come home to an oriental woman each evening. As I walk in the door she'd bow, holding my robe and slippers she'd say: "yes most honorable Monte, what can I do to please you?"

Of course after being in America for awhile she'd probably take on Western values. Then she'd say something like: "I want to live in big house and drive Porsche too."

and then before you know it they'd fully acculturate and get nose piercings and tats. Oh well!

You might at least spell Porsche correctly.

I believe part of Russia is in Asia…
My advice is to go for an Asian Russian. :)

But never let her see or understand the concept of a credit card!

Wtf

I think my head is about to explode.

This all needs to be deleted. Somehow I don't think it will be though, since when I flagged the offensive posts above for the moderator to intervene, he simply took it as a chance to get in on it.

Pathetic, but not surprised.

I understand (hopefully) that you two are being tongue in cheek but really? You're going to post this inane locker room crap on a sub forum that anyone here can read?

Hopefully the ladies in your lives are treated with more respect than what you've shown here.

Sad.

Maybe it would be funnier if the post really felt like a joke.

Edited: I guess the tone was set with the well mannered girls with 50's values…

What happened to the European women (present company excluded)?

I disagree about having to delete the post. I find it better to address it, the way some of us have. Can't delete everything we don't like.
Clearly my 2 cents.

"What happened to European women…"
Bob, they're all chill and sweet ….just like me.

BPL allows those ads. The post expresses what the ads are all about. BPL should not delete the post, it asked for it.
I find it sad, but it's out there.

Not seeing all those ads folks are complaining about. Just see ads reflecting some website I've visited in the past, like Audible or some gear store.

Sure enough, upon clicking the corner of one of those ads, got this message:

"This ad has been matched to your interests. It was selected for you based on your browsing activity. This Advertiser used Google's DoubleClick ad serving and targeting platform to determine that you might be interested in an ad like this."

Seems like, for some ads anyway, folks get what they've been browsing already. But those other ads folks cite, can't recall seeing 'em except for those posted here.

Whatever, I'd just as soon all the ads here went away. Must be some other MO for BPL to raise money. Bake sales? Car washes? Sponsor some dances? Sell millions of raffle tickets for great gear prizes? Sell BPL T-shirts & hats? Govt grants (jes joking)?

There's gotta be a better way.

Addendum: OK, just saw an ad for culinary school. Don't know what tickled that ad to appear. Maybe from browsing pots and pans at REI? A click to the corner of the ad brought up this informative message:

"Thanks for the feedback! Back

"We’ll review this ad to improve your experience in the future.

"Help us show you better ads by updating your ads settings."

So as not to encourage the Ad Master to think I'm listening to him, did not click any links in above msg. But if there were a "go away forever" link . . .

Ed: Actually at work and the ads for Asian ladies, Sugar Momma's, etc.. popped up. I understand about needing to make the payment on the homestead, but eventually users may stop browsing at work (maybe get some actual work done too).

ed: defanged
