I've reached out to my local group of non UL friends via Facebook to see if any of them would like to see what this UL stuff is all about. So far no takers. If any of you would like to bring a non BPL forum friend along, please feel free to do so. We've had enough cancellations at this point where it won't be a problem.

I haven't received a strong response back on any group activities (eg alky stove swap and/or beauty contest) so I'm interpreting that as a lack of interest. Please let me know and start a conversation here if I'm misinterpreting. This is our GGG and I very much hope for it to be an enjoyable experience for all who attend.

As things stand right now, there really isn't an agenda other than we have a campsite and people are going to show up. That's pretty much how the Pt. Reyes get-together went this year and I think it's safe to say that a great time was had by all.

So last call. If anyone would like to coordinate or have me coordinate some sort of group activity, now's the time to speak up.

I'm bringing a few water containers (20ish gallons worth) and will sort out the logistics of where and how to refill them after I check in Friday morning. I'll use one of these containers as a hand washing station complete with soap and hand sanitizer. Since this is a car camping extravaganza, I'd suggest bringing as much water as you'll think you'll need for the weekend.

I'll take care of the firewood.

I won't say this is the last update but there won't be many more.

I just spoke with the campground and their official policy is that we can't occupy until 3pm. They usually cut people slack and let them in early if the campsite is vacant. Sounds like there's no one staying in that campsite tonight so my guess is that shouldn't be a problem.

I will probably get there closer to 3pm than noon. If you happen to beat me there, head to the southern group campsite and I'll see you there after I check in with the office.

Thanks to all who made it to the first ever PNW GGG. For those who couldn't make it, you were missed and we are looking forward to seeing you at version 1.2 next year at a location yet to be determined. I'm going to start a thread in Post Trip Reports for those would would like to share a report and/or pictures of the event.

Yes, many thanks to Ian for organizing and being a wonderful host. Most importantly, I'm grateful for his initiative to just make it happen.

Its a real treat to get to be a gear geek in your natural habitat, which does not happen enough.

For those that could not make it, you missed some fun nights by the campfire and some little baby mountain goats worthy of a Jim Hensen puppet type of cute.

Ned, Ella and I had a nice overnight hike up the Skokomish River valley. Some decent Tenkara fishing was on display in the perfect weather (such that I even cowboy camped). We are ready to get back up here. Steve, next trip will definitely be up to Hart Lake. I only got a take of it from just over First Divide.

Looking forward to next year.

Being able to geek out was fantastic–y'all are dangerous to my wallet! Picked up good tips, and you have inspired Bill to be more ultralight, too–but he's not giving up his tent;-) Definitely looking forward to next year.

Were the fish biting?

Yes, we did OK. Both Ned and I caught a respectable number. Enough to make it fun. They were, I must admit, quite small. It appears that the Skokomish, at least upstream portion, does not support many larger fish. And the water is really low this year, which might be having an effect.
