Borah Gear give-away “NAME THAT TARP”
Hi BPL members,
I work with John at Borah Gear, I sew the tarps.
I came up with a new design for a tarp and we wanted to post it here first, and ask BPL members to come up with a name for the new design. The person that comes up with the name that we choose gets the final prototype of the tarp for free!
This will be listed as a 2 person shelter/tarp and it can be set up using trekking poles, branches, or tying off from trees in an unlimited amount of different configurations, from your basic flat tarp to a modified lean to, and when the weather turns bad you can put it into storm mode to keep out the bad weather.
The tarp weighs in at 13.3 oz and it measures 15 ½ feet long from tip to tip , (but the tarp is rarely used at this length, this would be mainly for maximum shade), and measures 8’ wide at the widest point, these are the measurements if you were to lay the tarp flat. When pitched in storm mode the sleeping area is approx. 6’ wide x 7 ½“ long with a minimum peak height of 34” when it is set all the way to the ground in storm mode.
Most configurations will only be approx. 10’x7’ or less, while this may seem like a big foot print, it’s really not, I’ve had the much bigger prototype(#3 18'x 10') set up in the same space as a 2 man tent, if you included their vestibules. So here's to helping us come up with a name and to someone getting a new tarp, we only ask that you do not resale it, but PIF it to the next person if you decide you don't need it anymore.
The winner will be chosen by John and I and announced here on BPL, and we will only run this contest until Sun., the sooner we come up with a name the sooner we can post it on the web site!
Once the name has been chosen we will post them for sale at $135.00
At borahgear.comAny and all feed back is appreciated, good luck everyone.
Thanks, John and Jack from Borahgear
Here it is in storm mode with the door in the half open position, when the weather gets bad just close it up.
This is the other end showing it completly closed up in storm mode.
This is a modified lean to, I used this set up on a hike up to Shepherds Pass and it worked really well to block the wind so I could cook.
These next 3 pictures are the tarp in a basic lean to with the wings spread out, lots of room under there on this set up.

Sep 17, 2013 at 3:02 am #2025357Hi,
I would suggest calling it MIXMATCH TARP as it offers mix of pitching options to match
different weather conditions.Cheers
