So if two gear nerds moved in together and there was only one closet for gear, who would get the most space?

"Yep I'm single. I don't know how you guessed."

It was the 5 WM bags that clued me in.

Why, the girl gear nerd, of course!

We may be gear nerds, but we still get all the closet space. You can have the garage. Or a shed.

I find the most neat and organized ones to be the sexiest, myself. But then, they do say that opposites attract…

You won't be seeing any pictures of my sprawling gear, that's for sure.

I guess I forgot to stage all the WM storage bags so their logos would show. I actually have 6 WM bags, and a Feathered Friends bag and a Nunatak quilt. I really need to start selling some stuff.

I just ordered an Enlightened Equipment Epiphany quilt, and it should obviate the need for most of my other bags. Still, it's hard to part with gear.

When I lived in Europe it was in much smaller houses so kit was always scattered in nooks and crannies all over the house, its only since moving to the US that I got my own gear room, having it all in one place makes getting ready for trips a far sight easier :-)

Here's my contribution. Lucky for me, my wife has allowed me to take over a corner of the walk-in closet. It's the first thing I see when I go decide what to wear…

I moved in with a girl, and she makes me try and hide it all in out of the way places. So it is scattered all over the house, but the majority hides up in the 7 foot high storage area above a closet in the laundry room. This is a total pain in the neck to get down and put back, and I usually forget a few things and end up taking all the bins down and putting them back up several times before a trip.

I think she should have to put all the clothes she never wears up there, and I should get the walk in closet for my backpacking gear. Although, if I suggested that, I might get my wish, but I'd also be sleeping in aforementioned closet.

Man I am jealous of you all. I have all my stuff, and it isn't even that much, taking up half of my "office" in a tiny apartment that costs way too much. I am trying to slowly accumulate some lighter used gear, but have no idea where I will put it. Life is hard as a grad student living the bay area. Well, the hiking is great but the cost of living isn't. One day I will have a house…

"I moved in with a girl, and she makes me try and hide it all in out of the way places"

Ugh, I remember that day very well. Complaints about how empty aluminum beer cans and denatured alcohol do not belong in the kitchen or some other nonsense garbage like that :)

Empty beer cans and denatured alcohol ARE my kitchen.

Right now most my backpacking and camping stuff takes up one half of the closet in our apartment's second bedroom. My wife's crafting stuff and decorations are in the other half. Sleeping pads and sleeping bags are stored underneath our bed. Jackets are here and there, some in the coat closet, others in the walk-in in our bedroom. Most of my other hiking clothing fits in a drawer on my half of the dresser.

That will all change at the end of the month though, we're moving into a townhouse with a third bedroom and a basement. Tentatively the plan is for the crafting and decorations to go in the basement and for the third bedroom to be for my computer/photography/hiking stuff. A guy can dream at least…

"I moved in with a girl, and she makes me try and hide it all in out of the way places."

I see she told you to try and hide the pup as well. That's just going too far, in my opinion!

"Empty beer cans and denatured alcohol ARE my kitchen."

That was good.

Ok guys, man up or girl up! If you do not have a dedicated room to organize your treasures then demand it. If that doesn't work out for you then you will be using your gear for awhile until you find other accommodations! It's a win win in my book.

Damn T! I love the equal opportunity household you're running over there.

Apparently, titanium isn't guest-appropriate fine china either according to my lady-friend. Sheesh, talk about high-maintenance.

I'm lucky to have a room and clothes closet (not really pictured behind shoe wall) dedicated to keeping the gear organized and accessible; nice for quickly planned trips.

bikes, pads, and bags hanging, shoes on the rack.

I'm definitely going to show my wife this thread. "here we see evidence in exhibit B"…

Thank you all so very much! Please continue to post pics of your extensive gear rooms, etc. ; )
