Darn! late to the party to throw in my name idea, but interested in a torso length pad if you are going to make those. Also, what is the final weight for the one you're offering?

One question, I would just use it by itself for a summer/3-season pad, so what thickness would you recommend?

I just wanted to give everyone a shipping update. If you ordered a sleeping pad with other items they were shipped separately, however both packages went out the same day.. But for some reason it appears like USPS held onto some of the sleeping pads at one of their sort facilities for a few days… I called and talked to someone earlier today but they just gave me a run around so I really don't know why. So with that said, you will most likely receive your other package first and then the Evarest pad a day or two later.. Sorry for the delay and any trouble this might have causes.. Am I crazy though or is the Glowire more orange than it used to be? No complaint, just wondering.

Thanks to everyone for the business. Any feedback thus far? With that said, I plan to start adding other sizes. I think I am going to add 1/4", 1/2" and then either 3/4" or 1" in a convoluted pad. Any opinions?

How stiff are these?

Hey Michael,

I have been using the Gossamer Gear 1/8th pad for a number of years as both a ground pad and inside of my ZPacks X-Small Zero for support.

In initial testing I would say that the padding that Lawson has sourced is a slight bit more firm than my GG pad was when I first bought it. It also appears to be a bit warmer, but that is just from me testing it on a cold wooden floor in my house with no shoes on – so highly unscientific ;)

I, like John above, have the Klymit Static V sleeping pad and wanted to try this out underneath. Although I am quite bitter that Lawson did not choose my suggested name for the pad, I will get over it. :P

My first thoughts were, well… obvious:

-It is light.
-It doesn't seem extremely durable (but I baby my gear so it should last).
-It was surprisingly comfortable by itself (not so obvious, I suppose).

After my Klymit pad was applied:

-It has nice natural grip, so the pad doesn't slide.
-It added a new layer of comfort to the Klymit.

For use as a frame in a frame-less pack:

-This worked perfect inside my 2012 GG Murmur in place of the sit pad and I suspect it should work just fine in others. It is slightly more firm than other 1/8" pads I have seen (which is a good thing IMO).

Inside a hammock (Double-layer):

-This idea was a no brainer for me and probably the single-most applicable reason that I purchased this pad. I'm mostly a hammock camper but when my girl comes with we set up the SMD Lunar Duo. Anyway, the pad fit great inside my WBBB 1.1DL and was not uncomfortable. I suspect it should keep me warm down to 40-50 range with my Top Quilt (Rated to 20).

I'd be interested in a 1/4" pad, or better yet, a 1/2" pad in about a 48" length. Maybe both.

For what I use this for I would love to see a 1/16" pad. Am I the only one?

For what it's worth, I feel having a 1/2in pad or two (combined with the 2 1/8in pads I already have) would make it a very flexible system without bringing too many pads to stack.

Haven't got to test it yet, but I like it. I'd suggest carrying it in all 1/4" sizes up to 1".

1/16" could be done.. I am not sure how durable it would be though.

I would be use a 1/16 as a frame for my GG Murmur, a ground sheet for setting up my gear, and a groundsheet underneath my sleeping pad (or inside DL hammock) in mild conditions. Probably wouldn't take it below 45. There are many other uses aside from what I would use it for but they would probably decrease the pads lifespan like you say (such as a sit pad). I think it would be great though. :)

If you made a 36" long and 1/4" thick pad I'd buy that for my dog! hah :D
At that token I could just cut up a full length 1/4" if you offered those.

Anyhow, the 1/8" is solid so far. I used it out one night with a low of about 47f. Kept me comfortable as the bottom insulating layer in my hammock with just a top quilt and shorts/shirt.

You should make a 1/16 in pad in torso length, slightly more narrow than the other pads. I'm talking 40 cm x 70 cm x .16 cm. Based on the available pad's stats, this pad would weigh around 0.55 oz, which would be the coolest thing ever. Gotta have bragging rights for "lightest pad on the market", and knock the socks off of any competition. The r-value probably wouldn't even suck very much, at about .4 or so.

But what I'm really interested in is the winter thickness sleeping pad. I want something to layer under a GG Nightlight which will give me a combined R-value of 5 or better. That would mean an Evarest pad with an R value of 3, or approximately .5 in thick. I would be very much excited to see a thicker pad though, and would probably buy the thickest available.

Is there any chance for a 3/4'' torso length convoluted pad like the GG Nightlight?

Lawson, I know you probably can't stock this material in every thickness, but are you still considering 1"? That would be ideal for me. If not, I'll buy two of the 1/2" pads and stack them.

I'd go for a 1/2" for now and probably get a 1/4" a bit later.

I'm in for a 1/4". Honestly I'd prefer a 3/8 over a 1/2. R-Value of 2.25 matches well with an R2-3 pad for 4-season (neoair/self-inflate/GG nightlight). I'd rather use a nightlight for the weight to fill out extra cushion in the key areas (lower back/shoulder/legs).

I just found this thread and would like to by a pad. When will the 1/8" pad be back in stock?

Like the title says, how do you you it?

It comes in 25in width, do you trim it, do you put in in your pack, how, why?

I use a 50" length as a protection for my inflatable pad at night. During the day I fold it to 10" and use it with my tarptent poles as a stay for my MLD prophet backpack. It also does a great job at keeping my from sliding on a silnylon floor.

Put me down for a 1/2" pad.

How much volume does that pad take up?
