The alpine hat is on my a-list for a christmas present, after seeing one this winter and thinking "That looks really comfortable."

Hey! What's wrong with fishing hats? Being one of those stereotypical old fisherman, I have to say that there is a reason they look like that… once again, form follows function.

Ike, does the boonie hat serve double duty as a "modesty" device?

That's not an ugly hat and not what I think of as looking like an old man's fishing hat. This is:

I think it's the floppy, bucket hat style. Seems like the better looking hats are ones you can't stuff in your pack. They have a stiffer brim.

If you are after a more elegant look , this is the way to go :
