Josh I was hoping that the Backcountry Boilers would have shipped. But no… So a burn off might need to be creative. We'll figure out a time for the swap.
Man! It's going to be fun!
We have one non-BPLr coming. Be nice.

Since this thread and the information in it has become to be too much of chore to go through, I updated the first post to reflect the
most up to date information.
So, I'm assuming we all will be getting back to the Bay area around 7pm at night on Sunday.
My flight leaves at noon on Monday.
I'm trying to figure out if I should get a hotel by a BART station and take it to SFO in the morning or take the BART yet that night and get closer to SFO and stay around the airport.
Anybody have suggestions regarding dealing with the BART. Am I asking for weirdos on Sunday night(with a suitcase of nice gear) or bad rush on Monday morning(maybe at particular stations)…is the BART usually on time?
You know what I'm after….thanks in advance. No reason to bother this thread, just blast me a PM please.
BART is a excellent way to travel. Not too many weirdos but maybe just a few. I would stay in the city off Market St(Bee Hive). From SF/Market St it will take you about 30 minutes to get to SFO.
Hope everyone is getting excited.
Looks like perfect camping weather is in the forecast! 60's-40ish, upper 30's Partly cloudy
I'm taking Thursday off as well so I hope to nab the good spot at Bridge Camp.
If anyone needs anything, now is the time to ask.
Hopefully someone is helping Jim out with his BART inquiries.

BART to SFO by 10:00am (check in time?) is really easy. The trains start at around 5:45am, or so.

The planner in the upper left of this link will help you figure out the timing. Its been my experience that the airport trains are timely.

Day after tomorrow. My wife is so glad!
A few pages back there was a request that someone bring a Trailstar to check out. I am adding to that list and hoping to take a look at someone's MLD Burn or, if I'm lucky, a MYOG "5 Yards to SUL-Pack". Anyone else have something to add to the list?
Requested Items:
No need to pack any of the above items as we can gather around your trunk to fondle the goods!
I second Eric's request to see an MLD Burn. Or a prophet… I think one of those is going to be my christmas present to myself :)
Hmmm.. I have a Burn but I wasn't planning to carry it due to packing beer… if I have room in my pack I'll just stuff it in there.
Actually, I'll just toss it in my truck for anyone who wants to check it out after the trip.

Almost.. Hope you coming from the land of freeways don't run into this…

All up to date info on the trip can be found here..
I don't have anything important to add; just taking up space to say I am excited to head up to the mountains. Some friends, some familiar faces and some new ones too.
:)
Since so many of us are going it could be a fun challenge to have a trip report contest on this outing…to be judged by the bpl community perhaps?
Kat, you're spot on about trip reports. Those of us that are living vicariously though this stellar group campout absolutely must hear the stories. And, as a precaution, I would like to nominate you to be the official den mother. You know, jot down the names of those that get silly, snore loudly, spill beers, or otherwise discredit the good name of BPL. I hope you all have a great time!
Great idea!
Could be fun and provide a little extra incentive.
@Gary. Well, I am usually asleep when the fun starts, but I'll try..
Kat,
How about some Chill Out Music first?
Finishing packing and will be going to bed in a couple hours. At airport at 4am est and will probably be at the trailhead at 11pm pst. I'll be tired so give the zombie some slack;->
I can't wait to meet everyone.
Have a safe trip. You are excused from the midnight trail run.
"Kat,

Need to throw some meals together and pack.
Battle of the bands with Jay.
LOL!
Ugh, Got a full days work tomorrow. Anyone heading thru the bay area late thursday or early Friday looking for a passenger ?

I'm heading out in the morning. Here is all the info you should need.
See you all there. Drive safe.
–Bring your unneeded gear for an impromptu swap meet–
–EAR PLUGS, JUST SAYING–
–Trail info–Some facts.
Zoom out and you'll see HWY 3 and HWY 299 for driving directions.

29 mile round trip, out and back to Sapphire Lake. About 7 miles in to base camp at
Morris Meadow.
When you cross the second footbridge you are nearly at the meadow.
Elevation change 4240 feet, average 292 feet per mile. It's not hard.
Elevation at trailhead about 3000 feet. Elevation at Sapphire just over 6000 feet.
–Weather– Expect temps between near freezing at night to around 70 during the day.

No talk of rain.
Lots of granite up at the lakes so watch out for sunburn.
Camp at Bridge Camp Thurs. night. Let everyone get there.
Hike in on Friday morning to Morris Meadow.
Saturday up to the lakes. Enjoy some of the nicest time of year up here!
OK so a bunch of you are coming, so here is the run down…
Each carload is expected to pick up their own permit in Weaverville at the
Forest Service Office.
Weaverville is the last chance for food, gas.
Coming from I-5 this means you will go past the intersection with the 3 and
continue towards the west edge of town
(this is just a few blocks) to the FS office on your left hand side.
You can self register at the kiosk out front.
Pick up a campfire permit at the same time. They are in the box with the permits.
Now go back east on 299 and turn left by the library at the junction with the 3.
North on the 3.
Continue north on the 3 until you pass a boat ramp on your right immediately followed
by crossing a fairly large bridge.
Just at the end of the bridge, turn left at the intersection with Trinity Alps Road.
This should be obvious even in the pitch black of night.
The junction with the 3 in town is easier to miss.
Continue on Trinity Alps Rd. through the resort.
The pavement ends and you continue on to Bridge Camp right before
the trailhead parking.
This is a fee required campground.
I would suggest doubling up in camp and parking the cars at the trailhead
lot to save some cash.
We'll have a little blow out Thurs. night as we assemble.
Friday morning brings a batch of more guests. A nice slow start.
Hit the trail around 9-9:30.
A seven mile, not arduous trip take us to the edge of Morris Meadow,
where we will base camp.
Plenty of water along the trail, so pack beer instead!
People streaming in all day to camp as we soak it all in and explore the meadow edges.
After a pleasant day and restful night, those interested will head up to
the head of the canyon to see Emerald and Sapphire Lakes.
The adventurous can climb up to Mirror Lake, past
Sapphire, with plenty of boulders between.
Another great evening in camp. Sad departures, with plans of future trips on Sunday.
Can't wait to meet everyone. For me this trip seems more like a family reunion than
a meeting of strangers.
Any help needed with any of the above? Please PM me and we'll get you dialed in.
