Willy, the info I have says to enter the code at checkout. Try that.

still not working.
I went all the way till "place order". The only place asking for the coupon code I found is in the shopping cart.

Hmm. That's strange. I was given a printed card by someone who works for Golite. It says CODE: DSW10 (enter at checkout)/Expires March 21, 2011

The code:DSW10 is not working right now we are finding out due to a glitch in the system but, that will be changed in the Golite system on Monday so try it then.

Needed another pair of running shorts, also liked the look of that button up collared shirt. Not a bad deal at 40% off!

I have been wanting to get a winter shelter for a while to start doing some winter backpacking and with %40 off I figured it was worth it.

Shangri-la 5 for $210… If I had any cash left in the gear/hobbies budget I'd be all over that!

Base on Dondo and John, they will end in March 2011, so you will have a lot of time!

Does anyone have any experience with the 2010 poncho tarp? Is it worth purchasing?

PostedDec 2, 2010 at 4:22 pm

from what i understand its a little small when sleeping under it, but its the kinda thing you take when you dont expect rain so no big deal there.

PostedDec 2, 2010 at 4:28 pm

That's just the way poncho tarps are. But, I'm specifically wondering about the 2010 model. I know they made changes. It's lighter.

The 2010 is lighter due to lighter fabric, (from 30D to 15D) I believe, not due to smaller size. I had an older model poncho tarp which I used, but never in rain. I decided poncho tarping wasn’t for me, and I turned my golite into a Roger Caffin Mountain poncho with the aid of 1yd of additional silnylon from Quest Outfitters. Now of I have rain jacket/pack cover that weight 8oz. At 40% off, I might pick up the new, lighter version and convert that one as well. If the 2oz weight loss holds, I could have 5.5oz rainwear for sub 50 temps.

I have also been looking for a new poncho tarp. I am definitely going to take advantage of the additional 40% off and will let you guys know how it is.

Royal, I took a look at the 2010 model a few days ago. It looks just like the earlier version but uses a lighter fabric and different colors. I've used the earlier Golite poncho/tarp on shorter trips when there wasn't much chance of rain but Coup and Skurka have used them successfully on longer trips.
