I'm in!
With my UL pack I can carry plenty of wood..en (matches)
Gonna try to git there Friday sundown or there 'bouts.
Last time it snowed enough here in the Santa Clara Valley to accumulate I was in second grade.
Hilariously they closed the school down for the EPIC sum of ONE WHOLE INCH of snow!!!
The parents were to afraid to drive and pick us up so us kids just played in the snow on the soccer field. Ahh the 70's!
Anyhow,
I wouldn't be surprised if the "man" has kittens and closes the roads.
But I am gonna make it through cause I gotta git the penicillin to little jimmy…
Sorry.. I am sorta freakin out about my upcomming AT hike! I prolly sound goofy. ;)

Okay, for logs, I can bring in 6-9 (4-5 lbs each) of them and hand out some to those who want to carry, but to make this work, people will have to bring their own log to get us a decent pile to last a long time.

So if you want to buy one and bring one…even a small one, that would be great, but totally voluntary.

Jeremy, maybe we can put your little wagon in my car to bring along to haul the fake logs that I have to the meeting point.

I don't have the box that it came in anymore.

Anyone know if there are food storage boxes or do we need to bring things like chain mail Ratsacks?

I'm envious. Tried to get down there to join but tickets from Portland never panned out.

Have a great trip all!

Anybody have access to wheel barrows? I am riding in someone else's car so I cant bring mine. If we were able to produce a few wheel barrows I would be down to truck firewood, beer, and even an inebriated Ken into camp. If the other Ken is inebriated also then I might need some help. No joke though, wheel barrows might work?

W'ye East (Mt Hood)

I knew i had seen that picture somewhere Steven(Paris). It's Mt Hood from the PCT. Here is a shot from August 2009.
Anyhow, I volunteer Jack Haskel and Myself to make extra wood runs to and from camp since it's apparently only 6 miles round trip and we are supposed to be bada$$ hikers or something like that. Mostly I volunteer Jack Haskel. :)

A wagon works better than a wheel barrow.

Some people have been on the wagon for a long time.

So as things have turned out I will be headed up there tomorrow afternoon ( only way I could find a ride up and back). By chance, is anyone going to be there a day early and want to meet up in the evening at some point? If not I will be there all day friday hanging out. I guess I should bring some books now. So much for the SUL kit :P. If anyone's showing up early friday and wants to hang out as well, feel free to message me on here.

pffft! Iceaxe! You're the pro with photos of every inch of trail in the western US. Who'ya kidding, huh?

I'd be happy to carry logs and kegs. I'll just throw them in my pack and carry them for the fifteen or so miles before the meetup. Gotta train sometime…

I know everyone is excited about the snow, but the ticks and poison oak of Henry Coe are resilient — watch out!

I didn't because I have been out of the country for a few months and when I got back, I didn't know if I would be able to find a ride. I'm wasn't planning on being able to camp with you guys, but I figured someone might not show and I could take a spot. If not, I can camp somewhere else in the park and just hang out with the group during the day.
Sorry about the last minute response here.

No worries Joseph. I think we have had a couple of cancellations. There is a $2 fee to help cover the cost of the groupsite that Ken and I covered. If you could please paypal Ken T. $2 that would be great.

Well, me and my wife have been extremely sick for the last few weeks. I have only been feeling better for a few days now. She is most likely not coming and our +2 and +3 decided not to go due to weather. So that leaves 2 open spots for anyone who needed them, they are already paid for.

I'm debating whether or not I'll go by myself.

If I come alone I might just come up Friday afternoon. For those who are going to be there Friday, are you staying at the group camp or a different site?

If we are able should we bring firewood to be carried in?

No way will my daughter let me leave her at home. We probably won't make it Friday night though.

I'm leaving the SF airport around 8:30 a.m. Saturday (dropping off my guy), making a stop in San Jose to drop off some stuff, then heading to Coe for the day (need to be back in SJ Saturday evening in time to shower, eat, and dress for work at 7:30 p.m.). So I'll be carrying a relatively light load (double batch of brownies to share, plus my own lunch and extra warm clothing) and can take in firewood or whatever else fits. I could even bring my big old Dana Designs pack if need be. I am guessing I'll be at Coe headquarters around 10:30 a.m. Let me know if I can help ferry stuff in.

I plan on arriving sometime mid afternoon Friday if work allows. I'll be happy to help haul gear in if needed. I'll bring a log from home.

Kevin, if you still have room in camp #12 please fit me in (one person).

Kat, please PM me about your Hats.

I was at Coe a few weeks ago. Poison Oak is starting to bloom and ticks were out but I don't think ticks are active when it's cold like this.

Get the latest Henry Coe weather here:

This is going to be fun no mater what the Mother Nature has in store for us!

"I'd be happy to carry logs and kegs. I'll just throw them in my pack and carry them for the fifteen or so miles before the meetup. Gotta train sometime…"

And to think… some of us are forced to train simply by doing 12-ounce arm curls.

Hey there ya'll, I was wondering of those folks who'd reserved camp spots in the park Friday night if anyone might have room for an extra tarp. I'll of course help with the camp fees, and I don't snore as that seems to be a concern here. :)
Anyways I'm pretty new to BPL and lightweight backpacking so am really looking forward to this weekend.
Thanks
Matt

rick

i feel your pain my son is excited to go with dad camping he is only 6 and has no real idea of what bad weather camping is like as much as i would love to bring him
i just know he will be miserable as soon as the wind starts blowing and it starts snowing or raining hard he is a trooper and would probably do ok but im just not going to take any chances with it at this point

i promised i would take him out camping in a couple weeks when the weather gets better

Hey just thought I'd check in. I'm planning on arriving within about 20 hours. Very excited to say the least.

I've got about 15 pieces of fuel wood. I can probably fit most of it in my Catalyst which I'll bring along with my other pack and take a couple trips. But I'm open to anything lets just have some fun.

Gosh I'm so excited. Just made a new ikea stove yesterday that I think will work better than previously and went to Wal-Mart for the blue pad. Just wish I felt more complete about my UL kit before everyone sees it.

See y'all soon.

Ben
