Good idea Jay, it might take a large lighter, two esbit tabs, some twigs and a bottle of fuel to get a fire started that can beat a fancy new kettle.

The Four Dog Bushcooker Stove is a multi-fuel cook system with a small alcohol cup underneath. If you run out of alcohol you can use a Esbit tab which burns quicker IMO. Obviously you can use twigs and small branches and just about any bio mass even charcoal. This is a excellent little stove at 2.2oz. A wind screen is recommended for a faster boil time.

Bushcooker– 2.2 oz
Evernew UL Ti Cooker(25oz)–3.2oz
Windscreen– 0.9oz

The Four Dog Stove fits perfectly in the Evernew.

"Your going down Douglas!!!!!LOL"

Jay, that really is a cute little puppy stove you have there. Was it a stray? Is it camp-trained? ;-)

Thanks to everyone who have confirmed and paid. We are basically full up at this time. Guaranteed to be a weekend to remember.
We will be asking everyone to check in and get your site and raffle ticket. See everyone next week!!!

Who? All nice people who are interested in lightweight and ultralight backpacking.

What? The largest non-commercial lightweight and ultralight inclined backpackers get together anywhere.
Gear, gear and more gear. With a swap meet so you can get some gear.

When? Feb 25-27th 2011

Where? Henry Coe State Park Fri. night at the Coe Ranch campground by the visitor center spots 11, 13, 14…
Sat. Hike to Manzanita Point group camp spots 9, 10

Why?!? To promote fellowship and to meet other "light minded" people to forge hiking partner alliances.
OK. To get out of the house in the middle of winter to go camping with a great bunch of people. And gear, beer.

We will have support vehicle capability to haul things to Manzanita Point.

Hi, Ken –

Since I'm only coming in for the day, should I pay anything? If so, let me know and I'll be glad to. I've been assuming the fee is for campsite only, but that may not be the case since I saw my name on the wiki as "confirmed" but not paid…

I will be leaving from Huntington Beach early Friday so if anyone wants a ride PM me. Or if someone else is driving from Southern California?
Plan is flexible.

I know it is over a week out, but the weather report calls for rain, so be prepared.

Every year we have the rain bug. Normally we have done this at the end of January. This year we thought it would be better to start a little later this year. Well, we missed some of the best January weather ever. Keep our fingers crossed!

From the what I have seen, the reportrs are trending towards better weather by the end of the week. Of course that can change. I will be keeping an eye on this and making reports as need be.

Snow down to 1800 feet elevation.

Good luck with that.

You might want to brush up on your snow cave skills for Henry Coe.

Rain or Snow bring it on! Looming weather reports have never stopped this crew. Just to be safe I am bringing a REI car camping tent that sleeps 8 but you could pack in more if need be. Umbrellas would be a good call so we could hang out like huddling penguins.
