This was a very fun hike so close to the Bay Area..The National trail is well maintained with a easy graded flat trail. Fun hiking for family are friends. The Shasta-Trinity National Forest is very healthy with all rain we have received this year. We had quite a bit of weather for Two days: Rain, hail, sleet and snow. The weather was changing every hour on the hour.

It's always amazing how temperamental and inconsistent weather can be in the spring. It sounds like you two adapted well and had a really nice trip. I really like your improvised outdoor vestibule setup with the dog tarp and sublite, very smart considering the precipitation. No BPL Nano tarp this time eh? Were bugs an issue? Thanks for posting up Jay!

I started reading this thinking it was "Big South Fork" in TN/KY, and quickly realized that it was a completely different area of the country.

Quite a temperature/weather range! Was that hammock really set that high off the ground?

I enjoyed the photos.

My hammock does look high in the photo due to me sitting in a depression that was on a diagonal with my hang. Easy access for me though. Nice area. I'll be going back.
