I live in Scotts Valley. Carpooling is ok
I'm in for the 27/28th.
I could drive/carpool from North Oakland or Rockridge BART.
Anyone want to guess what the nighttime lows will be this time of year there?
Next weekend we are looking at night time lows in the low 40s with a slight chance of rain, with highs in the 50s and partly to mostly sunny. It can easily get to the low 30s if you camp in the river bottoms.
So we are on for the 27-28th. Going in at Hunting Hollow to Coit Lake. What time are you all expecting to be at the trailhead. 9'ish?
I normally hike alone, mostly 20-25 mile day hikes. A few 1-2 overnights a year. Been fine-tuning equipment on forced fast marching.
Still in my 2nd year of transition from serious 40-yr touring/racing cycling life (serious Osteoporosis . . . I fall-I break). Luckily, raised in Tuolumne County, I hunted/fished/hiked all through my life.
So, would be interesting to hike/camp with others.
The posts looks like group is still in air as to the final decided starting point?
If too many already, I may do some "Red Hills" day-hikes, then do something in the foothills, lower Sierra's instead.
All welcome Micheal–Hunting Hollow is the trail head going to Coit Lake (9.3 miles)– starting between 9:00 and 10:00am on Saturday morning–see ya there…

Lots of Open Space out there
I'm planning on participating.
Now, to gather up the gear, sort it, and prep.
See you all at the trailhead!
Social Marketing BUMP!!!

Coit Lake in the distance..I think I will bring a pole just in case.

Above Hunting Hollow TH

Lots of ridge line walking

Grizzly Gulch
My sister asked if I'd led a 10-17-mi hike in the Red Hills of Tuolumne County this weekend, as the flower reports are starting to look good.
Since it is in my "home county" where I was raised, and Dad lives just 15-mi from trailhead, I decided to take her and friends up. Planning to do a 6-mi trail run on the Westside RXR trail next morning.
Still gives me a chance to "shake the cobwebs" out of my hiking brain, and to test new equipt & re-test my current items.
April may be a a go for the higher sites.
Wanted to see some Alki stove use with this group, darn!
So who is all going this weekend?
I know that Jay, Cameron, and myself are going.
Think that Jay has a guest who will be staying with him.
We are all carpooling together.
Just curious to see how large of a group we are going to be.
Looking forward to getting out there again with you all!
-Tony
I'm going up tomorrow and start to hike in. Will see you all at Coit Lake Sat.?
me +1
I plan on being at Hunting Hollow about 9 am on Saturday and plan on leaving from there with whoever else shows up.
Hey Richard, Me, Cameron and Tony are getting breakfast in Walnut Creek at 8:30 and will be at the Hunting Hollow TH around 10:00-10:30….Any interest in some breakfast before the hike? Are we will just see ya at Coit Lake….
Jay,
Thanks for the invite, but I think I'd like to get an earlier start. It usually takes me about 90 min to get to the park headquarters so I'm assuming the same amount of time to Hunting Hollow. I also thought I might spend some time fishing at Kelly Lake before going on to Coit.
Looking forward to seeing some of the BPL crowd again.
Great Richard, I am bringing a pole too!
I am coming with my daughter. Josh is coming with his wife and all 4 kids, plus a mule and maybe a horse
Very funny Katharina about Josh–LOL! Should be another fun trip…
-Jay

For those of you who can still get this that are out there, I'm coming! Buttttt I'm stuck in traffic in Walnut Creek, apparantly a truck overturned. So I'll probably see all y'all at the campsite.
So excited!!!
So – Waiting patiently here for trip reports and photos…….
