Laboratory Grade Ethanol

It may be a regional thing too. Checking Lowes in north Seattle today, I found Kleen Strip Green Denatured Alcohol. The MSDS shows less than 10% Methanol or Methyl isobutyl ketone, which is about the same stuff as the Crown and certainly an improvement over 50-50 ethanol/methanol mixes. It is recommended for use as fuel on the label:

"Fuel: Produces a hot, clean, odorless and smokeless flame in alcohol burners and marine stoves. Always follow appliance manufacturer’s instructions."

If you google methanol poisoning you will see that the preferred treatment is ingestion of ethanol. I was just fooling around with Heet in my alky stoves & spilled some on my hands in addition to what I might have inhaled, so I came in the house & poured myself a stiff shot of Irish whiskey. Now I'm no longer worried about the methanol, and I feel good about many other things as well.
