ahh film…beautiful shots. I love the first one. The tent looks so out of place (in a really cool way).

Aconcagua Summit Ridge

This old photo was shot at about 22,700 feet, miles and miles above tree line. Yes, the weather was getting ugly.

I think this was taken on the hike to Ice Lake and that's the village of Manang and Lake Gangapurna (?) down below

Can't put a finger on it, but there's something really cool about that first pic you posted Tom. Great mood.

Both Bob G. and Tom have some breathtaking images here, really good stuff. I particularly enjoy the Tom K's photograph looking out of his tent on that glacier pouring down the face of that massive valley.

"Dennis Lake, Wind Rivers"

Absolutely beautiful photos, Mark. What an area. Thanks for sharing.

"Great mood."

I can still remember what my mood was, Craig: Awestruck and very, very humbled at being well and truly in the abode of the mountain gods. It is a very spiritual place. I spent most of two weeks floating along that ridge in the second picture feeling very airy/empty and at peace. I feel it is no accident that the Sherpa are Buddhist. The Khumbu is very conducive to that state of being.

"Annapurna Circuit"

Second photo is fantastic! Wish I could wake up to a view like that everyday.

Where's the trip report accompanying these photos, Chris?

Absolutely stunning. Nice to see places other than the usual suspects in the US, as well. Where in Turkey is that?
Thanks.

PostedMar 6, 2012 at 6:34 am

Thanks Kat.
I've edited the post to add places. It's the first time I've posted photos and I didn't realise the descriptions wouldn't be visible.
The Bolkar and Aladaglar are part of the Taurus (Toros) Mountains in southern central Turkey. The Kackars are in the northwest, close to the Black Sea.

Thanks Ed, both for the comment and for pointing out the error with the date (now corrected). I guess I'm looking forward to going back this year too much.
I loved your photos earlier in the thread too, but didn't comment partly because I'm lazy (there are so many great photos in this thread – I'd like to praise them all) and partly because I'm jealous of how many different places you've been to.

Thanks, Tom & Eric.

The trip report is here. I just updated it with a few more pics at the bottom.

And check out Dan’s report that I referenced in the first paragraph. Really nice pics in there.
