"UL2 will be uncomfortable for your height."

I don't think that Alex would have any problem with it as long as he sleeps solo, diagonally, and in the fetal position.

there's a haiku in there somewhere

If "Peter Tooke" is a clever alias, all I can find is a Peter Tooke who authored a Mike Tyson biography.

Was there an ear biting incident that we haven't heard about? I know swearing and generally being a negative nancy is against BPL rules, but I can't find any clear policy on ear biting.

I hope I am not violating his privacy too much, but Bob just did Mt. Whitney for the 40th consecutive year! I think this is kind of amazing – for me much more of a personal inspiration in line with my (and I assume many others on here) goals about backpacking and getting out there as much as possible than FKTs, and the like. Wish he was on here so we could congratulate him and hear the story of how he managed to do this so consistently. Feels like he should get some kind of trophy or belt buckle or something.

Nice way to turn a lovely positive and inspirational comment about BG into a negative dig against others.
Well, this is BPL, I guess.

Thanks for sharing and it IS an impressive accomplishment!

Congrats to Bob for getting out there and doing something amazing that all of us can hope to aspire to.

I can only hope that when I get old, I can keep trekking along on the trail to enjoy the Sierras.

Congrats Bob….you are going to live forever!

Tony

Ralph, I honestly hadn't even noticed you were the previous poster. No connection was intended. I was just looking for a way to insert this into a thread that is subversively about Bob's plight. Sorry. I have ton of admiration for you and you accomplishments.

The key words in the above are "for me much more of a personal inspiration in line with my goals". I could, and probably should have, used any number of examples of things avidly praised and discussed on here that are also not in line with my personal goals. I guess I would say Bobis an inspriation to me because I'd like to keep doing this for a long time (something I can actually aspire to), and can never hope to emulate you.

Is there something in the air causing so many bpl'ers to be so thin skinned? This forum thing is turning into a whine fest. Damn, should we starting discussing feelings too…..

If you're referring to Ralph, I personally wouldn't call him out for initially taking Marko's post personally; in the context of his just having attempted a FKT, I think it was quite understandable, even though I also completely understand where Marko was coming from when he wrote what he did, and thought that his follow-up explanation was honest and well written.

Now if you're referring to what presumably got Bob ousted unceremoniously from the forum, I agree someone was thin-skinned. And over-reacted.

what's an FKT? except, way to go Ralph, I did just follow his record attempt, so it must be related…

I'm talking about what got Bob removed as well as others going out of there way to be offended. Stating something positive about something while contrasting it with something else is not an automatic put down of the something else.

For people to get along we must assume others here are full of goodwill, which is true in all but a few posts I've seen here over a few years. Assuming otherwise creates more drama than most here want.

There are wise people who have gone missing over the last year, Bob included.

FKT – fastest known time – google is your friend – if you were really asking and not being sarcastic : )

people and web sites come and go

"Assuming otherwise creates more drama than most here want."

I dunno. Seems like people have an unending appetite for drama. There are cable channels based on it. Almost everything has drama added to get more viewers.
