Another welcome and a thank you for offering a very cool product we can't get elsewhere. I bought one as soon as I saw this thread and am looking forward to its arrival!

Mine just arrived, 0.7 oz incl. velcro sheath. Finally we'll be able to cook with a decent sized knife. My wife always complains that the blade of my Gerber Ultralight is too small for cooking.
BTW one of us typically carries a small Swiss Army knife with scissors/tweezers.
Hi Greg, welcome to the forums. You have great taste in places to live : )
Beautiful designs. Have you ever thought about also making some heavier though still lightweight stainless and carbon blades?
You guys are reading my mind. I already plan on making ultralight scissors, and I have started experimenting with carbon fiber scales for some of the knives. I put a cabon-fiber scaled ulu up for sale yesterday, and will add another carbon-fiber scaled knife in a few days. Next month I will add CF to my two new designs, Big Dog and Bulldog. Unfortunately, the carbon fiber will add about $20 to the cost. It's NOT cheap, but will look great, provide a better grip, and is much more sanitary than a P-cord wrap.
I got my knife today and I am very pleased with it. Thank you Greg! Weight is spot on to spec at .77oz total for knife and sheath. The sheath functions surprisingly well, although it isn't as quick to draw or put away as most options we are used to.
Here are a couple pics:

Greg, any beefier knives in the works? I would love something in the 2-3oz range that is capable of batonning small pieces of wood. Thanks again!
A couple of thicker, stronger knives are planned, as well as different sheaths. Right now most of the money from sales are still going into paying off startup costs. As I gain more capital, I will be able to expand the line. I have a lot of fun ideas. Wait until you get a load of my titanium/carbon fiber slingshot.
Very cool Greg best of luck to you. Hopefully we got you off to a decent start thus far. I posted about you on whiteblaze as well under the ultralight forum.
What kind of weight do you expect that slingshot to come in at?
Got my knife yesterday. I got the tiny bird and trout knife, and I'm super happy with it.
Here's the knife.

Better pic of knife.

Thanks Greg!
Hey, everyone, OP'er here.
When I started this thread, I did not know Greg from Adam, but now I am finding myself with a new friend and an unpaid job of helping him with his business and web site design. I just thought I needed to make that clear in the essence of full disclosure. Anyway, for those of you that have purchased Flyweight knives, please send me some of your action pics for use on our new web site (coming soon) and our gallery page of user submitted photos. We can't pay you anything for them, but you will have our undying gratitude. Pics of the knife in action would be way cool! Thanks!
Got mine the other day – super fast delivery to Canada! Love the simple light sheath design. The knife doesn't seem very sharp compared to my steel blades – it definitely won't be push-cutting paper edges or arm hairs – but it will do the job for regular food prep and maybe emergency cord-cutting / small wood-batoning (hopefully never). Well made, very light, and dirt cheap.
"Wait until you get a load of my titanium/carbon fiber slingshot"
What??! Shut up and take my money.
OK, BPL community…we need your help. What one of these designs do you guys prefer?
We've picked more elegant, modern typefaces to match the lines from the knives. In the first example, we're mimicking the flight wings common with aviation. It's a different take, but more elegant. The second example is creating a wing in a different way. This design also has a subtle Southwest or Native American flare. The third example is a no-compromise, straightforward brand that emphasizes the knife design. A hollow look, which contributes to the airy, light feel. An alternative design would color it a steely grey to match the titanium. The bottom example takes the literal "fly" motif. An interesting twist. We've made the wings out of knives. That is actually my personal favorite. Well….?

Also, how many on here would like to see us start a Kickstarter campaign to really bust this company out and get some more products going?

I like the bottom one with the fly, no need to put a knife in the logo. The 4th is slick
Yeah, that's what I think, too. We are also looking at etching the fly logo (or our co. logo), on the knives.
BTW, I HAVE to give a shout out to the artist, Derek Hansen, of The Ultimate Hang fame. Righteous dude! Thanks, Derek! You rock, buddy!

I would go with the first one out of that group. No way I would use a picture of an actual fly. While I can appreciate making the logo match the name, people hate flies. Hikers hate flies. People will immediately associate your logo with an object they don't like. If it were my product, that would not be my goal.

I dunno. There's something about that 4th one that's groovy. It's different and the knife wings are subtle. The other 3 seem predictable and/or safe.
Bottom two are my favorite. Great design work by the way!
And I would be into a kickstarter.
I like the 4th design. Playful and subtle reminds me of the bee for the Laguiole products. I would support a kickstarter campaign as well.
Purchased the standard long model yesterday, can't wait till it comes in. Now just to wait for that slingshot.
I think the 4th is cool. My amateur two cents: You might consider removing a little detail to make it easier (cheaper) to reproduce. Like removing the tiny rear left leg line, and eliminating any interior openings on the body.
I'm sure you guys also considered a top-down 2D version? For shirts or hats or other promo gear it'd be cool to more obviously see knife-wings without having to have text.
I think the literal fly is *TOO* subtle, to the point of being confusing. Are you selling insect repellant? Are these supposed to be knives for killing flying bugs? Once I know the company and am familiar with the logo then it's fine, but for the unfamiliar it leads the mind in the wrong direction, IMO.
Maybe there's something that could be done to make the knives more obvious, but there's a number of successful logos in this category aren't particularly knife-like: Spyderco, Kershaw, SOG, Benchmade, Buck, Victorinox, CRKT, Case, Opinel. Granted it takes a lot of time to build brands like these.
I prefer the 2nd one as I find the overall design aesthetically pleasing and I also find it immediately displays some of the diversity of your product line.
The fly is too abstract. Even knowing the product, I hesitated and questioned why there was a fly. Just gut reaction.
I like the product line display of the second.
I like the top one. Almost an abstract fly in itself. Just a little modification like below perhaps?

I like the 2nd one simply because it leaves nothing to the imagination.
I am kind of a simpleton, so the diagrams of the knives makes it very clear what the company and product is.
The only negative is if the designs of the knives displayed are discontinued….then you have out dated products being permanently shown.
As a side note….really fantastic to see a "new" product coming out where the BPL community is enthusiastic about and highly supportive.
Neat to see the "birth" of a new company or one that is in the early stages of taking a big turn in its evolution/growth.
Best of luck for them as they go forward.
Tony
Since the fly "motif" is by far the most popular so far…..thoughts? Yes? No?

PS_ Very nice, Eric. Thanks for the input.
