> I would think that most BPL members would want to raise the level of discussion here, not to try to lower it down to the level of Twitter.

Then why bother needlessly "correcting" (in your opinion only) someone, and doing it in a rude manner ("what in the world?!")? How does that "raise the level of discussion"? Especially vs. just ignoring the perceived "abuse" of the language and allowing the thread to continue w/o comment.

(I will not be Grossed out!)

The sale needs to hurry the %#*^ up because daddy needs a another pair of Kuhl Revolvr pants for kicking it one time old school around town.

That's actually how they are spelled… take it up with them. I'll take the hit on the rest.

"Then why bother needlessly "correcting" (in your opinion only) someone"

Dave, where did I claim to be correcting the person who made the posting?

I will repeat myself, why don't we elevate the conversation and not spread false accusations like above?

"I see my tax return disappearing"

What on earth does your tax return have to do with anything?
Do you really mean your tax refund?

Um…. so this is you NOT correcting someone?

Ok.

Got it.

I'm done here (at least until your next one!)

Seems like Bob has a point Dave. He is not "claiming" to be correcting. Others say he is correcting; he says he is trying to clarify what was meant. There is a difference.

"The sale needs to hurry the %#*^ up because daddy needs a another pair of Kuhl Revolvr pants for kicking it one time old school around town."

1. Which sale? It's not clear from your post, at least when read alone. State what you mean clearly.
2. "..hurry the %#*^ up"? It's not clear from your post how much it needs to hurry to meet your unclear deadline. Say what you mean (while also meaning what you say.)
2. "A another"? I am positive you have made a mistake here. Please correct.
3. If you cite a proper brand make/model, it should be followed by a trademark acknowledgement.
4. I think it should be written "old-skool" to express the proper old-skool flava with which one intends to kick it.

…edited to help get things back on track.

As far as the original post goes, can anyone point me to the exclusions for the sale for this year? I can't find them anywhere. Although I may need to just wait until the deal is formally posted by REI to find those.

usually along these lines

" Discounts not valid on hard-shell boats, stand up paddleboards, any time with GPS technology, activity trackers, personal locator beacons, avalanche airbag products, skis, ski boots or ski bindings; snowboards, snowboard boots or snowboard bindings"

I see REI is switching to Mastercard (currently Visa) and that instead of 1% on non REI purchases (those are 5%), will include 2% on groceries- never have bough groceries with a credit card, but might start with the new card :)

Yeah, Mike, 2% on groceries through March of 2016. I'm not sure that will quite compensate me for the hassle of contacting my autopay accounts to let them know that I will have a new card. I had to do that last fall when my Visa was compromised/hacked, and it took most of two mornings at the computer trying to contact my autopay people. Us geezers don't much like changes like this. First world problems…but I'd rather be here than in NE Syria.

I don't have the exclusion list in front of me, but Mike M has the bulk of that. Add to his list action cameras, avalanche beacons and prior purchases. (You can't use your 20% coupon to get a price adjustment on something you bought prior to the 27th.)

Also for those who are not familiar with the coupons – they are only good for one full price item.

My whopping $13 dividend is now showing on my account as of this morning.

Does anyone know if Steripens are normally excluded from the sale?

I've been wanting to give the Opti a try and would like to purchase from REI, but not at full retail.

It is fine to buy a Steripen with the 20% off coupon. That is one battery powered device that hasn't yet integrated GPS technology!

I see my dividend in my account as well. It might be 10 more days until I can use the discount, but I have a bunch of small "light" items that I've been waiting for this rebate to buy, and will try it today. For the bulk of my rebate and 20% coupon, I was thinking maybe a Benchmade Mini Griptilian knife or a Biolite Wood Burning Stove or Nanogrid setup. I don't need any of these, and wouldn't pay full overprice for them, but they are cool and I sort of consider the rebate like an xmas present – buy something you wouldn't normally buy for yourself. Unfortunately, REI just doesn't carry some of the smaller company products I would jump on in a second with this discount + rebate, like an Ursack or Caldera Cone or a Warbonnet tarp. Why don't they?

$36.47…. I suppose it's my fault for always waiting until stuff goes on sale.

Clean up in aisle 9. There's 2 pages of crap in this 3 page thread about the REI dividend and sale.

All of you to your opposite corners. Sheesh.

"But……must……get…….in…….last…….word………"

$324. Have to think of something that will maximize the 20% coupon. Actually looking at one of those hydraulic lift kayak carriers from Thule – my boat is heavy and I have two bad shoulders. If the coupon works, it might be a good year to get one.

$85. Much more than what I was expecting. I see some bike paraphernalia in my near future.

"REI Dividend Balance

Your dividend balance from 2014: $0.00"

I did it! Finally made it to the ranks of the non-REI shopping, SUL crowd ;)
