Lightweight backpacking is all about paring down gear so that hoofing it into the backcountry is as much fun as being in the backcountry. Packrafting is lightweight backpacking that includes water travel and a broader definition of what is comfortable - either on the trail or in camp - since the boat and associated gear add five to ten pounds of weight to a pack load. Packrafters either choose to haul more weight on the trail or cut back on luxuries in camp when they embark on a "classic" trip that includes equal parts hiking and paddling.
