What's the best present-day equivalent of the Golite Jam?

ULA CDT might be your closest bet for size and cost.

I flat wore out a older style jam. My next pack was an MLD burn while smaller is very Spartan like that old jam. MLD has several sizes which will allow you to dial in the size.

Well, there’s the Montane Ultra Tour-series which lookd like exact copies from the Jams.

The 44 liter Osprey Talon would come close to the 50 liter Jam 2. You might have to remove the lid and some of the special straps the Osprey has.  The foam frame sheet is also removable if you wanted to reduce the weight further and get something like the original Jam (which I own).

The prior owner of GoLite, Demetri Couponas, is creating a new company via a Direct Public Offering (DPO) in Colorado and expects to re-release old GoLite designs from their new brand called My Trail Co. They’ve said that they’ll be releasing packs and some down gear in April via an online store if everything goes as planned . If you’re able to wait, you can likely get the re-branded version of the Jam 50 and 70 in a month or so. More details here.

I have nothing to do with this new company, other than being a long-term fan of their packs predominantly.

@woubeir – The Montane packs look very similar and pricing is great. Has anybody used these or know of availability in the US?

I have zero intention of patronizing Golite founders ever again. I loved their gear, but in business they were horrible, ending in a bankruptcy owing millions of dollars to suppliers. This was a black eye for the whole outdoor industry. It’s scandalous for Coup to come back and try to make money off of the same designs without having paid back his suppliers. @pdmullen @jeremynova
