I was thinking that you could vacuum metalise dcf.

After a wee google I see it’s been attempted twice (3 times) with most of the chatter on here.

The first version had an additional layer (?) which had delamination problems and the second released version was metalised directly on to the dcfs plastic sheet (?).

There didn’t seem to be much follow up chatter on the second released version.  Did it have bonding issues on the metalised side? Did the metalised coating eventually fail or was there just not enough demand and interest to continue production?

I have a small 4 x 8 emergency tarp I had  made about 9 years ago. It makes a good sun shade. I don’t know which version. It’s held pretty well.
I think the uses were limited. It’s a little on the heavy side for CF.
Pictures aren’t loading. I’ll try later.

There it is. It looks like aluminum foil. Shiny on one side, dull on the other.

Another picture from the backside showing wear of the metallic coating. I don’t really notice it ordinarily.

Looks to have held up pretty well.

If there was issues with bonding to the metalised side, tarps would be pretty immune compared to using it on a tent where overlap would be inevitable.
