Alright, so I am living in northern ky, and want to do the Virginia triple crown loop hike in mid May. I plan on starting, and finishing at the dragons tooth parking lot. My problem is, I cannot find many detailed maps that show shelters, campsites, water sources, and trail rules. I am wanting to do this hike in 3 or four days, but am not sure where to plan my camps, without a good map.

Does anyone have any good map, information resources they are able to share? Have you done this trip, and have any recommendations on best direction, water sources, or camp recommendarions? Are fires only allowed at certain shelters, or camp sites? Thank you for any information in advance.

Outstanding. Thank you for the link, great resource. Now, just need to find out more about the available water sources, though. Great map, too.

The water sources are mostly all at the valley bottoms/road crossings.  There are springs at the 2 shelters around McAfee Knob.  No water on North Mountain.

Thanks for the info. Yeah, that was really my only concern, having to carry all that extra water for the North mountain trail. It doesn’t look like it can be avoided, so I will just have to work wirh it.
