I’m a hammock camper looking to upgrade his system and can’t decide what tarp stakes to get. I’m looking at the Toaks titanium nail pegs but would love any input at all!

Best to have multiple stakes to suit different conditions and/or tension requirements. For guylines under “normal” tension, I like the Litesmith Meye Ti stakes: they are light, with good head design and moderate hold power – a good general stake. For guylines under moderately high tension (important corner lines or apex lines), I like the Zpacks Ti V-stakes: they have a lot of holding power for how little they weigh, and work good in loose soils. For critical lines under high loads (apex of shaped tarps for example), I like the MSR Groundhog, which has extra girth, length and a tough aluminum build strength for critical lines. For lines holding mild tension (side panel pullouts for more interior room), the Zpacks UL Ti stakes work just fine and are super light.
Excellent article on stake holding power.
I’m a groundhog guy. They hold well, don’t bend easily.
I’ve bent Toaks nails.
Thank you guys so much! This is so helpful. I’m loving the community on these forums so far. I really appreciate it!
<p style=”text-align: left;”>Be careful, there are imitation GroundHogs (Y) stakes, on line , made with softer metal.</p>
The bend….
