Hi,

I’m looking for recommendations for a pack that I can carry with me on a long-term bicycle/hiking trip. I already use a bunch of UL gear on the tour so am thinking a frameless will be best as I can keep it in a pannier or dry bag when not in use, so packed volume is important. Baseweight is ~4.5kg depending on which pack I use. Ideally I would like to be able to do long-distance trails using the pack so around 50l should work. I’m currently looking at the Granite Gear Crown 60 but wondering if there is any other pack that will do the job.

Thanks,

James

The GG Crown2 is not frameless, so you might have difficulty storing it in a pannier.  I’m not as familiar with frameless packs as many others here, so they should weigh in.  I think some of those larger volume packs might have removable framesheets, which might be interesting.  Good luck

I actually already have an Osprey climbing pack strapped on the rear rack but its frame is bulky and missing a few features I like for hiking. I would prefer to keep the pack in a dry bag. Mariposa/Gorilla was another option, any ideas on how small it could pack? I think the frame is a metal wire so that would be fine to keep on the rear rack.
