Suggestions for titanium nested pots that hold 220 g canister – budget minded

I have to buy a couple sets for my adult boys birthday. We are looking for nested pots (2) where the 2nd one is at least half as big as the main pot, and will carry a 220 g canister.  They can be different brands, ect, asl long as they nest nicely.  There are so many options and price ranges but I’m not finding the sleepers, just the most advertised sets.

Can you folks throw out some suggestions what what you have found?

Thanks in advance!

Have you looked at Toaks? They make a wide variety of Ti cookware at reasonable prices. Their site is genuinely useful categorizing pots by diameter so you can think about what fits into what. Be sure to look at their Notes on particular models… I believe they mention some nesting opportunities.

Also note the word LIGHT in some pot descriptions. I think this indicates a thinner wall material.

Both the MSR Titan Kettle and the Evernew 900 mug fit the 220g gas canisters.  My guess is that the 850-900 ml mugs is a good starting point.  Best wishes on your quest.

Yeah, Toaks sells several nesting sets depending upon the size you want, and they make a damned good product.  I’m quite certain that their largest nesting set will fit the fuel canister.  Since this one has the same diameter of smaller pot I’m pretty sure it would work as well.  They list measurements for their pots, so it isn’t hard to figure out.  (Or just call them and ask.)  Those 115mm diameter pots equate to about 4.53″, and IIRC the largest brand of stove fuel canisters (Kovea?) run around 4.33″.  Most are more like 4.25″, though.  And I’ve seen JetBoil and MSR cited as 90mm (3.54″)- I think that most manufacturers are going to that as a standard because it’s what will fit in the most common and incredibly popular JetBoil stove stand, and they want to poach market share from JetBoil.  So I don’t think any of the Toaks pots smaller than 115mm will fit a canister over 90mm.  In fact, I strongly suspect that Toaks chose 115mm as one of their standard diameters for this very reason.

If you really want the smallest pots possible you might try this Toaks set, and assume that everyone is indeed going to 90mm fuel canisters, but I can’t guarantee it.

Evernew has a number of pots that can be nested as well, of course.  I’m not sure if they actually sell them as sets, though, so you might have to research a bit to figure it out.

As always – thank you all for your time and posts – I have a small spreadsheet of pots that I can refer to when it comes time for me to upgrade my own set. For myself, I’m probably going to move entirely to 90mm 110 g canisters because I’m refilling them. That size canister opens a lot more options.

I purchased a pair of Keith Titanium nested pot sets.  The size, features and price was a good match.  ( Keith Titanium Ti6014 3-Piece Pot and Pan Cook Set – 2.4 L ) The large Primas Power Max 230 g canister rim measured at 109mm, so there’s a 8 mm margin for error or canister tolerances.

1.2L: ID 117mm
0.8L: ID 120mm
Pan:ID 119mm

The Toaks are awesome, so is the MSR Titan kettle. All very close, but no cigar. ($$ vs $$$)  I was able to stay under $100 for 2 complete sets of 3 pots.

I can think of a lot of delicate items I might want to pack inside a pot (and do), but the idea that a steel gas canister needs that sort of protection is a bit odd.

Cheers

Wait, no! LOL  “…is a bit odd…” Sorry Roger, you gave me a chuckle as I reflected upon having odd ideas.  I’m not protecting the canister, I like having the pots, canister, and stove in one package. Can’t image what I carry that would be fragile except spare eyeglasses, phone, or meds in the FAK, non of which would pull out of the pack regularly. I try avoid things that break easily.

Now for the record, I DO protect my Svea by putting it in a perfectly fitting tin coffee can. :-)  ( I don’t try to nest the Svea because of possible fuel/food contamination.)
