I really like the old REI Sahara pants that you could buy with the crotch gusset and the belt but they haven’t made those in the last few years and the current ones are a bit tight.  Do any of the other companies out there make a decent pant that has a roomy pelvic area?

I have the REI pants too and love them, but here is the replacement that I am buying for a trip to Cambodia:

Railriders Eco-Mesh Pants….designed to keep your vented and cool.

They have a zipper that runs down the side of the legs to open or close the vent, depending on how hot/warm you might be.

Many good reviews on their site…..friend of mine used them on the Tahoe Rim Trail for a 9 day loop that we went on. Served him well.

KT,

Humm, that could be a problem then.

Thanks for letting us know.

Hope you are doing well these days…..

Yeah, the Saharas used to be great, now they’re awful. They changed the material, too, so it grabs sweaty knees, exacerbating the tightness. Just awful. Designed by someone who never had to hike in them. Awful.

I’ve now switched to shorts for all summer hiking, with a pair of wind pants to go over those if it’s cold. Doesn’t work for bushwhacking, though.
