I’m looking to climb Rainier (Disappointment cleaver route) in Sep. Experienced hiker / marathoner but first time doing a serious climb. Need advice on how I should think about layering (I run on the colder side.)
My current plan is the following. Base layer > Patagonia Capeline Thermal Weight. Mid layer Fleece (optional if cold) > R1 Air 1/4 Zip. Active Insulation Layer > Proton LT. Wind shell > Houdini. Will also have an Alpha FL hard shell handy with severe weather.
Is there an alternative to replace my R1 Air and Proton LT combo with a single insulated active mid layer (more insulation than Proton but still breathable)?
Additionally I’m looking for down hoody f0r camp and looking at MH GW 2, Cerium LT and Feathered Friends EOS . The FF EOS seems to have the best fill ratio but Cerium LT and GW2 are lighter. Any suggestion would be welcome and apologies if this has been addressed elsewhere.
